It seems like the player hasn’t been identified yet. Looks like we will have a way to go before we see any sports action. Joe.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The Nashville Predators have signed forward Cole Smith to a one-year, two-way deal for the 2020-21 season.
The Predators announced the deal Thursday.
Smith, 24, just finished his senior season at North Dakota where he scored a career-high 11 goals and had 18 points in 34 games. The 6-foot-3, 197-pound forward played on both the power play and penalty kill as a senior and helped North Dakota win its conference's regular-season title.

A second Ottawa Senators player has tested positive for COVID-19.
The player was part of the recent road trip that included NHL games in San Jose, Anaheim and Los Angeles.

Health concerns and travel bans closing international borders stemming from the new coronavirus pandemic left the International Ice Hockey Federation with no choice but to cancel the men’s world hockey championships.
The decision to cancel the 16-team tournament to be held in Switzerland in May was formally announced Saturday, and essentially wipes out the IIHF’s entire spring calendar of world championship of events.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The Nashville Predators have signed goaltender Connor Ingram to a three-year contract.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -- The Buffalo Sabres have agreed to sign college free-agent forward Dawson DiPietro to a one-year entry-level contract.

The top three Canadian junior hockey leagues have called off the remainder of their seasons and playoffs, and the Memorial Cup trophy given out to the national champion will not be awarded for the first time in its 102-year history.

The NHL will be "flexible" when it comes to the schedule for the rest of the season, though a delayed finish will not have a knock-on impact for the 2020-21 campaign.
Commissioner Gary Bettman announced a pause in games amid the coronavirus outbreak on March 12, with players then told four days later to self-isolate until March 27.
At the time of the suspension, there were still 189 matches remaining. The Stanley Cup playoffs, meanwhile, were due to begin at the start of April.
In a Q&A press release, the NHL confirmed that, with no planned date for a return, they are keeping their options open while reacting to "the best medical advice available".

NHL bubble teams want more regular-season games, or expanded playoffs

Connor McDavid likes where the NHL paused its 2019-20 regular season because of the coronavirus pandemic. His Edmonton Oilers would be in the playoffs and have home-ice advantage in a first-round series against their rivals, the Calgary Flames.
"I think [the standings] look pretty good right now," he joked in a video conference call on Friday. "But you want a fair season. And a fair season is a full season. If we can do that, I think that's something we'd obviously prefer."
It's also something a few of his Pacific Division rivals would prefer. When the NHL postponed its regular season on March 12, the Vancouver Canucks were tied with the Nashville Predators at 78 points in 69 games, but Nashville would win the tiebreaker for the last wild-card spot in the West.
But if the NHL ended its regular season and seeded its playoff via points percentage rather than point totals, not only would the Canucks (.565 points percentage) make the postseason, they would jump ahead of the Flames (70 points in 70 games, .564 points percentage) into third place and face the Oilers.
"Either go by points percentage or play some more regular-season games," said Vancouver center Bo Horvat, when asked for his preferred format for a season restart. "Obviously, to make it completely fair, you'd want to play more regular-season games and have more games to get in. But if we're going to start playoffs right away, definitely by percentage, that would put us in. But it's tough to make that call."
It's an even tougher call for the Arizona Coyotes. They're four points out of a playoff spot after 70 games. They have a .529 points percentage. Under either formula, they're not a playoff team. So players like defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson are hoping for a regular-season restart.
"I think it's fair to start where we left off here. It would be good for the playoffs too, to get those games going again. It would benefit all of us," Ekman-Larsson said.
Since the season was paused, players have exchanged different playoff format ideas among themselves while the NHL hierarchy has done the same.
"I've thought a lot about this," said Flames defenseman Mark Giordano. "In a perfect world, you want to play a full regular season and whoever gets in, gets in. But I don't think realistically we're going to have that time."
                                        His remedy?
"You can't eliminate teams that are in on points percentage. I think you go 12 and 12 (in each conference). More teams get in this year. Maybe a couple byes at the top, and play it out," Giordano said.
Whatever the playoff format, the quality of that postseason is something the players are curious about. The season restart could come after months of the players being restricted from using the team's training facilities or rarely getting a chance to skate. McDavid is wary about jumping into playoff intensity after that layoff.
"I don't think we can just step into the playoffs and Game 1, it's Calgary coming to Edmonton, and guys are running around trying to kill each other that haven't played for two months. It'll end up the [AHL] Stockton Heat vs. the Bakersfield Condors if that's the case. We want to keep the guys healthy," he said.
But the layoff has another benefit: allowing players who were out of the lineup due to injuries to heal up and be ready for the playoffs whenever they begin.
"If we can ever get back to playing, it's going to be one of the best playoffs ever. You're going to be playing the best version of every team," Giordano said.

Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby prefers the NHL skip the rest of the regular season and head directly to the playoffs if games resume during this pandemic-interrupted spring.
Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin is on the same page, saying he'd even be willing to finish two goals short of his ninth 50-goal season, which would tie the NHL record shared by Wayne Gretzky and Mike Bossy.
''Of course, you want to score 50, but right now, like everyone is saying, the most important thing is to stay safe and to get this thing done,'' Ovechkin said Thursday. ''It (stinks) not to score 50 and to not get another milestone, but you have to think about your family, people and fans to be more safe.''

                                                  yeah, I think that's a certainly.

I'm thinking 65% rest of season doesn't happen

Noting the Sharks’ season is not officially over with the NHL on hiatus due to the coronavirus, Wilson voiced his support by saying Boughner has the edge in taking over the job on a permanent basis.

Construction halted on Belmont project scheduled to open for 2021-22 season

Lou Lamoriello said Thursday he isn't worried that the completion of the New York Islanders' new arena will be delayed by construction restrictions related to the coronavirus.

"We're not concerned right now," the Islanders general manager told Newsday.
The Islanders, who have split home games between Nassau Coliseum and Barclays Center since the start of last season, are scheduled to play in their new home in the 2021-22 NHL season.
The project broke ground on the Belmont Park site in East Elmont, New York, on Sept. 23, 2019. On March 28, construction was paused when Gov. Andrew Cuomo expanded a temporary shutdown of non-essential projects due to concerns surrounding the pandemic.
The Islanders issued a statement in support of that decision. They are expected to play all of their home games in 2020-21 at Nassau Coliseum.
New York had six home games remaining (two at Barclays Center, the final four at Nassau Coliseum) when the NHL season was paused March 12. It was previously announced that the Islanders would play any Stanley Cup Playoff home games at the Coliseum.
Lamoriello told the newspaper that defenseman Johnny Boychuk (laceration) and forward Casey Cizikas (lower body) likely would be ready to return when the season resumes. Boychuk, who was injured March 3, missed the final three games prior to the pause; Cizikas missed 13 games after he was injured Feb. 11. The GM said defenseman Adam Pelech may begin skating again soon; he has been out since sustaining an Achilles tendon injury Jan. 2.
Lamoriello, who said last month that any offer sheet for pending restricted free agent Mathew Barzal would be matched, said any negotiations with Barzal or pending restricted free agent defensemen Ryan Pulock and Devon Toews likely would not take place until after the season.
"We want them back and will do everything we can to get that done at the right time," Lamoriello said. "There are so many unknowns right now. … What will happen with the [NHL salary] cap? What will happen with the payroll for next year? All those things have to be kept in your mind."
The Islanders (35-23-10), who lost seven straight games prior to the pause (0-3-4), are one point behind the Columbus Blue Jackets and Carolina Hurricanes for the two wild cards into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Eastern Conference.
"I'm extremely optimistic that we will play at some time as far as this season," Lamoriello said. "Whether it's in June, whether it's in July, whether it's in August, I'm not thinking about that. I'm just thinking, in my mind, knowing that we will play and using this time to get ready for that."

“I want fans back in the arenas,” Trump said later in a briefing at the White House. “I think it’s ... whenever we’re ready. As soon as we can, obviously. And the fans want to be back, too. They want to see basketball and baseball and football and hockey. They want to see their sports. They want to go out onto the golf courses and breathe nice, clean, beautiful fresh air.”

But that seemed too optimistic for California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who was asked if he thought the NFL season would start on time.
