23-year old first round draft pick from 2013, RHP Kohl Stewart starting tonight for Minnesota at home against Oakland. Will be a test. He probably won't go deep into the game. He had two outings against Detroit so far in which he gave up 3 runs each time. Gotta see what the kid has.

Alex Cobb, a live dog for the Baltimore Orioles going against the very weak New York Yankees offense.
        Worth a spot start

^^^that was from Friday night, Baltimore played the Yankees tough all the way into extra innings until NY just outlasted them.

I was on another game Friday night and it played out in the most bizarre way. Pittsburgh at Milwaukee. Brewers cranked 2-two-run Homers by Yellich and Moustakas in bottom of the first, but then did not score again until the bottom of the 15th where they got 3 runs for a 7-6 win. The bizarre part also was Pittsburgh tied it in the top 9th at 4-4 score, then scored 2-run in the top of 15th to make it 6-4 and they had 2 relief pitchers left, while Brewers had nobody but starting pitchers left on the bench. Brewers got two men on base, Ryan Braun struck out on 3 straight pitches, then pitcher Jordan Lyles had to bat and got walked on 5 pitches....next batters got consecutive hits to win the game, while Pittsburgh never brought in their one remaining relief pitcher...after battling all that way, somehow they chose not to win the game. Of course I was on Pirates.

                  OVER 10.5 -110 NYM@CHC = big wager

Syndergaard at John Lester. Warm, humid, winds blowing out tonight in Chicago.

I also have the Cubs in particular due for some Overs.

Syndergaard has not been dominant this year. Mets should be able to hit Lester some, too.

the way it played out, Under first five innings was the better play

full game Over 10.5 also hit, but it was tight and took a solo-shot by Rizzo in the bottom of the 8th with 2 outs

top 9th Mets actually loaded the bases but didn't score further, losing 7-4 score

Trevor Cahill Oakland Athletics starting pitcher goes against Houston Astros tomorrow as he has good life time numbers
Heed caution as the last time he was in Houston he couldn't get past the 4th inning

Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Matt Harvey has good lifetime numbers against the Milwaukee Brewers and he's had three consecutive quality starts with over five strikeouts in each one
Again, heed caution. I usually don't like the start pitchers in the Great American Ballpark(smallpark)

                          2 spot starts, 37% and 11% owned

Dereck Rodriguez (Pudge's son) starts at home tonight for San Francisco, looking for a sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Rodriguez got a no-decision in his last start vs. Texas, but has continued to pitch very good all year, sporting a 6-1 W/L record, 2.30 ERA, and 1.00 WHIP on the season. His lone loss was back on June 9 in a road game at Washington.

D-Backs were shutout both of the first 2 games of this series. SF is missing Buster Posey who I believe won't play again this season, as a pending surgery has been announced for him. Filling-in as the catcher for SF is Nick Hundley, who will be batting in the cleanup spot tonight, after going 2-for-4 last night, and he has gone 3-for-5 lifetime against Arizona starter Zack Godley.

The Houston Astros have a starting pitcher by the name of Framber Valdez
Not a ton of information out there. All he did was beat Anaheim in Anaheim last week so there's no reason to think that he can't do it this week in Houston

On the Under 7.5 total in the Sunday Night game

Ohtani takes the mound for the Angels in Houston, going up against Gerrit Cole.

I think both will pitch well, even though Ohtani back off the "pitching DL". First 2 outs of the game been recorded so far.

^^^won the Under, I had other reasons for it besides just the starting pitchers. But I felt like a square after Ohtani only threw around 60 pitches before being pulled. He performed "better than decent" let's say, still with high-90s mph fastball and serious drop on his curveball. The first inning was shaky but he got out of it. Later he gave up a 2-run homer to George Springer, who finished the game a triple short of hitting for the cycle.

Anyway, it was basically a planned bullpen game for the Angels. Still managed to go Under, thanks in part to the weak bottom-half of the lineup the Angels put out there. Similarly, the Houston lineup does not go as deep with Marwin Gonzalez running cold in the 6th spot. He is a career .250 avg hitter, but last year hit .303 ...this year appears back to his career average. Looking at his game-logs, Marwin tends to go hot and cold for small stretches of games at a time....kinda like my handicapping.

Wanted to mention Ohtani also tried to snag a liner back to the mound with his bare throwing hand. It deflected to the 3rd baseman who threw out the runner. He didn't come out of the game as a result of the play Not sure if there might be any lingering effects from the play.

I just don't understand why Shoehi Ohtani was pulled after 60 pitches.
Well, I understand why. I mean I don't understand why we didn't know about it in the first place.

Danny Duffy for KC gives up 3 runs at Cleveland, hardly can find the plate, and leaves the game with just 2 outs recorded, after the trainer came out to look at him. Will have to see what they might report is wrong with him.

Left shoulder impingement for the lefty Danny Duffy. Done for the season.

7 years in the big leagues. Finishes this year with 8-12 W/L, 4.88 ERA, 1.49 WHIP

Granted, the Royals offense isn't gonna help him get wins, but the ERA and WHIP are well-above his career averages =

for tonight, I'm heavily on Arizona hosting the Braves. Anibal Sanchez at Zack Greinke is quite the pitching matchup, both sporting almost an identical ERA of 2.97 on the season. Atlanta historically has not been very good on trips out west. They just got swept by Boston at home, including blowing a huge lead in yesterday's game. Now, I won't say it's impossible for them to bounce back, in fact tonight will be a tough test of doing just that for the young team....however, I don't think it's a good spot for Atlanta at all.

Also noticed Arizona series win odds is -220. They are -163 favorite for tonight's game 1.

Tomorrow I'm going to try the New York Mets starting pitcher Steven matz at a spot start, he's only 17% owned.
He's had three consecutive quality starts including 11 strikeouts in his last start.
4 starts ago, he got blew up by the Philadelphia Phillies in Philadelphia. He couldn't get passed 2 innings.
I'm going to take a chance on him.

I thought Matz looked interesting it that game too, but with Nola starting for Philly and them needing a win so bad, the result was not surprising. 4-3 one-run win for the Phillies on the road.

Lost 4 in a row on spot starts, now. I feel like the Brandon Lang of fantasy baseball for the last week. I cant get anything right.

Man, I am getting destroyed in baseball this year, but it went downhill way before September.

Tonight is a guaranteed winner as far as I'm concerned. Seriously if this loses, I'm done with MLB for 2018 (as I should have been before today anyway):

                                                        Saturday Sept.8

                                                        UNDER 5 -115 LAA@CHW first five innings // 5 units to win 4.34

Matt Shoemaker at James Shields. Both pitched well in their last outings. Shields being a flyballer will be safe in this start with a 20 mph sustained wind blowing in from the outfield. Meantime the White Sox lineup is still lacking Jose Abreu.

ugh, terrible gambling type of pick, ruined by Mike Trout's first 2 at bats off Shields, 2-run and 3-run homeruns.

Time to turn focus on hockey and some football.
