Heat officials and the team's leading players have "already started to explore their options" for creating financial flexibility to attempt to sign Carmelo Anthony, according to ESPN.com.

Oh boy. The current trio of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh would have to opt out and restructure their deals to make this work to give Miami a Big Four. Plus, the salary cap is expected to go up next season, which will help Miami in a big way. LeBron is also "likely to try to recoup potential salary sacrificed through fresh off-court business opportunities," according to the report. Melo has a June 23 deadline to let the Knicks know if he'll opt out of the final year of his deal. You can expect an update on him every day until then.

So what do they do about filling out the other 8 roster spots? Even if they were willing to take some pay cuts, how much would they really have to work with? They could pay the rest of their team about $8-9/hour, maybe time and a half if they make the playoffs.

would be a huge disaster if this were to happen. Hypothetically still Wade's team and city, and Lebron is the next guy. No way Melo would accept being the 3rd guy on a team not to mention Bosh being pushed back even more which would be an issue with him as well. Only way I see this working is if they get rid of Wade which actually would make sense considering his knees and the fact that his not gonna be playing more than 50 games a season at this point in his career. However they have too much respect for him and this is still his team and they will stick it out with him.

No way Melo signs with Miami. First off, he loves being "the man", staying in NY means he gets the spotlight all to himself and he gets to take as many shots a game as he wants, I don't think winning is as important to him than being the best player in a major market. Not to mention, if he signed with Miami, he would have to take a drastic pay cut from what the Knicks could pay him. No way he takes way less to be Lebron's new sidekick.
