SMU at Tulane

I am leaning toward doing a 6 pt tease and playing Tulane at -12 and the Over at 42 1/2. I think that SMU will be able to put up at least 14 points and won't be able to stop Tulane's Offense.

Tulane has to win this game by at least 14 pts especially at home.

One more thing to think about Tulane is 4-1 ATS against SMU in their last 5....if that means anything....

What do you guys think of that play??

I'm going with SMU with a small play. I believe June Jones is to good of an offense coach to not score points. This might be the break out game they were looking for. I think the offense will put up points, but the defense will give up points. I'm looking for them to cover.

I know I say I would fade SMU all season, but I thought what the hell. They suck so bad the only way to go is up.

A few things to consider about SMU here... Here's their game log...

@ Rice Loss 56 - 27 (Rice has an excellent offense, 1st game under Jones system with true freshmen QB)

Texas State Win 47 - 36 (Whatever)

@ Texas Tech Loss 43 - 7 (Texas Tech has been making a lot of teams look silly!)

TCU Loss 48 - 7 (TCU looks rock solid on both sides of the ball this year!)

If you want to take Tulane, thats fine. They may cover. But really, all of this talk about how much SMU sucks really isn't fair. @Rice, @TexTech, VS. TCU is a very hard schedule for a young team. I think Tulane is the weakest offense they've faced so far, and I think a score along the lines of Tulane 31 - SMU 17 is very realistic.

I agree with you 100%. SMU might get off the bus for this game.

Yes that is true USC, but other than Texas Tech, those games were against Conf opponents. We all know teams playing in conference learn from other teams within their conference, because they know other teams tendencies, coaches, playmakers abilities, situations in particular down and distances. If it worked for Tom and Dick, why won't it work for Harry (Tulane).

As for Tulane, they have played.

@ Alabama L 20-6 (only gave up 99 rush yds, 73 pass yds.....Alabama has rolled over 240 rush yds in other 3 games)
vs ECU L 28-24 (should've won the game against a team that won against 2 top25 teams and ranked in top25 at the time)
vs UL-Laf W 24-10 (IMO i think UL-Laf would beat SMU)

To me if you can't compete with anyone in your conference, and your going against a team that opened against 2 top 25 teams and played them pretty damn well. How can you look at this game and not like Tulane. The game -18 is pretty high, but I feel the O/U is too low, and I like Tulane for the half -10. Until SMU can actually get some stops and get their 500 ypg defense off the field and give them a break, I'll like the the other teams chances to score and continue to score. You are probably right, Tulane may be the weakest offense they've faced so far, but as I said, can SMU def get off the field, that's the question. Doesn't help when you have a coach who doesn't care what the opposition does when they have the ball, he only cares when he has the ball. Less attention to detail on defense makes them vulnerable to mediocre offenses. Of course this is just my opinion. BOL to all!!

Bout average, they are truly terrible, their defense is nonexistant. Their offense is a lil worse than normal right now though, looks like all the receivers have bets on Tulane
