UFC 130 : Maynard vs Edgar III

This is turning into a really exciting card. My mind is only made up about one of these fights and it has been for quite a long time.

A pair of bantamweight bouts has been added to May's UFC 130 card in Las Vegas.

They include Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson (9-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) vs. Renan Barao (25-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) and Norifumi "Kid" Yamamoto (18-4 MMA, 0-1 UFC) vs. Chris Cariaso (11-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC).

UFC officials today announced the fights, which takes place May 30 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas with a lightweight title fight and third match between champ Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard.

PRELIMINARY CARD

• Thiago Alves vs. Rick Story

The Preliminary card could pass for a great free card on Spike. This is an awesome card so far. Hopefully Spike and Facebook are involved on this one.

An undisclosed injury has forced Brad Pickett out of a UFC 130 bout with Miguel Torres, and fellow bantamweight contender Demetrious Johnson has been bumped from a fight with Renan Barao and has stepped in as his replacement.

-Sucks... I really liked Pickett in that original match up and I'm sure he would have been a decent dog.

A bantamweight bout between UFC newcomers Renan Barao and Cole Escovedo has been added to May's UFC 130 event.

A source close to the negotiations today told MMAjunkie.com that verbal agreements are in place for the fight.

An undisclosed injury has forced Norifumi "Kid" Yamamoto out of next month's UFC 130 event.

His opponent, bantamweight Renan Barao, now is slated to fight replacement Michael McDonald at the Memorial Day weekend event.

UFC officials announced overnight that Cody McKenzie has been forced to withdraw from a planned UFC 130 bout with Bart Palaszewski, and Gleison Tibau has agreed to step in as a replacement.

Damn, planned to have Bart in a couple parlays, no way he was gonna lose tht one...big step up going against Tibau tho, but have to wonder how Tibau will deal with the cut due to shorter notice...he has been helping Alves out with his camp tho so will probly be in decent shape. On plus side it's one less contender for submission of the night...down to Barao and Macdonald now for me.

So means there are only 3 fights on undercard at moment (not including the Spike card which will Torres/Johnson and one other.

ya 3 at the moment, they definitely have to do some puzzlesolving and add another matchup. Hard to guess which matchup is going to get moved to the maincard, id rather see grove/boestch but it will probably be torres.

That's a big hit to this card. Still some decent fights, but no title fight really sucks.

A light-heavyweight bout between Quinton "Rampage" Jackson (31-8 MMA, 6-2 UFC) and Matt Hamill (10-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC) has been tapped the new headliner.

Additionally, a welterweight fight between Thiago Alves (18-7 MMA, 10-4 UFC) and Rick Story (12-3 MMA, 5-1 UFC) has been promoted to the main card. That bout, which initially was slated for the "UFC Prelims" special, has been replaced by middleweights Tim Boetsch (12-4 MMA, 3-3 UFC) and Kendall Grove (12-8 MMA, 7-5 UFC) on the Spike TV card.

Yeah I was thinking Grove but then didn't Spike pull Grove off of the Spike card before because he criticized their involvement in TUF (against Reljic I think). I'd rather see Mcdonald/Cariaso but guess they'll all be on Facebook anyway.

Yeah they wanted Alves on the Spike card so tht more people would watch and then buy the PPV according to DW, Alves spoke about it in an interview as he asked Dana why he'd been relegated!

how did Maynard catch Edgar in the last fight? I kept watching it wondering because I don't think Maynard is that fast. BJ is a far superior striker imo and couldn't do what Maynard did

Maybe if BJ actually tried to fight instead of acting like a giant puss we would have seen his far superior striking.
