Just saw Nick Cave two weeks ago for the 3rd time.

Saw Wilco at bonnaroo a few years ago, used to be a big fan, but they've faded a bit for me. Saw Springsteen at the same show. Brilliant, although I prefer his sad songs to the rockier stuff he plays live.
Honestly I'm not, this subforum seems to pull the smartest people from a degenerate forum, its unreal.

How was Cave live? Did he play Stagger Lee?

Anyone here familiar with Destroyer? Canadian art pop act, very very reminiscent of Cohen in terms of the literary quality of his lyrics. Highly recommended.

You'll like this song, Sac, since I'm assuming you've been to (or are familiar with the people of) Vancouver. Let me know what you think.

To be honest, Nunya, Wilco are a very album-by-album band for me. I hate A.M, Being There was mediocre as hell, Summerteeth is brilliant and YHF is one of the best albums I've ever heard.

Randy Newman is one of the best singer-songwriters I've ever heard, also. Sail Away is an amazing album.

Already knew it, I've been a fan of destroyer since high school.

Thing about Wilco is that the whole lineup save for Jeff Tweedy and the bass player has been constantly rotating.

Their "sky blue sky" album is my favorite, and the last 2 are excellent as well, reason being they brought Nels Clein onboard.

I'm not a big fan of Yankee Foxtrot Hotel, even though that seems to be the album everyone loves.

Also, best three Wilco songs IMO, are in this order:

Impossible Germany, Jesus Etc., How to Fight Loneliness.

I don't even want to begin calculating the hours I have spent listening to those tracks...

Can we at least agree that "Hold On" is the best Tom Waits song, or are we gonna have another scrap ala Roy Nelson/Mitrione?

He never doesn't play stagger lee. And he always adds the extra verse.

Tango 'Till They're Sore, Jockey Full of Bourbon, In the Neighbourhood. First three that come to mind. Earth Died Screaming, too. There's a few I'm leaving out, I'd have an easier time picking a top ten than choosing just one, I'm pretty sure I couldn't narrow it down to just one.

You heard his most recent album? Unreal stuff.

Hold on is not EVEN CLOSE to the best Waits song. It's a great song, I love it, but no way is it even top 20.

Better songs in no particular order:
Clap Hands, Bad As Me, Way Down in the Hole, Cold Cold Ground, Ruby's Arms, Falling Down, Dirt in the Ground, That Feel, Martha, Big Joe and Phantom 309, Downtown Train, and it's not even the best song on Mule Variations with Take it With me on there.

Saw waits a few years ago in Georgia, good show, but the audience was all dicks. Couldn't imagine why they liked his music. Only person I have left to see on my musical geniuses tour is Cohen.

You guys into any female singers?

Big fan of Neko Case, Joanna Newsom, Rilo Kiley, and of course Patti Smith. The chick who's opening up for Nick Cave right now, Sharon Van Etten, reminds me in parts of Patti Smith, not so much in recordings, but live.

Joanna Newsom and Patti Smith are awesome, although the sound of bridges and balloons seem to make elitist music fans irritable.
You're forgetting about the queen, Kate Bush. And Joni Mitchell.

Check this out, bruhv. One of my favourite bands, and they have a female singer.

Replacements goes without saying. And everything Paul Westerberg has done since is good as well.

Maybe the greatest song of all time?

Maybe the greatest song of all time?

I never understood why they never blew up or received more recognition from the general public. Yet a band like The Goo Goo Dolls did.

All classics, absolute and utter classics. You forgot my 2nd favorite, Blue Valentine.

If this song can't give you goosebumps, I don't know what to say.
