Added Gonzaga v. Dos Santos, big fight for Versus. Interested to see Dos Santos on the ground. Cro Cop and Yvel were strikers and Werdum got his block knocked before getting a chance to implement anything.

This card is stacked for a free event. Dos Santos looking to finally get his name in with Lesnar, Mir, Carwin, Nog, and Velasquez. And Jon Jones is probably only a couple good fights away from being in the discussion for a 205 title shot.

Vera has good take down defense, and his striking is better. Not to mention he can actually knock people out.

Are you saying that his striking is better then Jon jones? If so, you need to go back and watch a few jon jones fights. Jones will probably knock vera out.

I've seen Jones' striking its decent, but he doesn't have knock out power. I don't see how he will knock out Vera, when Vera's fought much harder hitting strikers and Jones has yet to knock anyone out in the UFC. Not really saying Vera will win this fight, but I definitely think he's got a chance and there's some value on his betting line. Also looking at Jones' last fight his ground game was less than impressive against Hammil. He was very aggressive, but was unable to get the fight stopped.

To say Jones has better striking boggles my mind , Jon Jones is a product of hype, The kid is good but he's not great yet... Jones is not even close to Vera in striking on a technical level he's still a very raw talent... I see Vera dominating Jones; Better striking better ground game and more experienced.

Technically, Vera might be a better striker, and that is only because of experience. Jon Jones is 10 times more versatile and dangerous then Brandon Vera. Jones has knees, kicks, and elbows that come from all directions at any time. There is no way in hell you could say Brandon Vera is more dangerous on his feet then Jon Jones.

I disagree that Vera has a better ground game. Jon Jones is a hell of a wrestler and his ground and pound is insane. And Vera doesn't have any submissions. He isn't going to tap out Jones (or anyone else), and he sure as hell isn't gonna to out wrestle him. Brandon Vera has good Muay Thai, but if this fight stays on the feet, as it probably will, Jones will probably knee/elbow/kick Brandon Vera in his chin. KO.

I don't see anything to support this, Where has Jones proven he has better striking and good ground n pound?
His striking look looked average against Matt Hamill and Matt Hamill is lost on his back of course he's gonna beat him up on the ground.
Then the one dimensional Jake O'Brien fight? I guess he looked good but is it hard to out strike a pure wrestler.
His best fight was against Bonnar which he won decisively his striking looked good but Stephen Bonnar is a very slow striker and just couldn't keep up with Jones pace had Jones finished Bonnar i'd be more inclined to say he's a good striker but he didn't he controled and had more energy.
Jones is a flashy unorthodox striker, He telegraphs his strikes: he tends to keep his hands down and has poor head movement.
He hasn't fought anyone with Veras level of striking; So if his game plan is to come in striking with Vera he's gonna get his head taken off.

i just think Jones is more versatile and is more comfortable anywhere the fight can take place. He's very quick thinking on his feet and always capitalizes when he sees opportunities to do damage or throw his opponent off rhythm. it comes off as flashy but hey you have to be unpredictable, yet effective.

I don't know about Vera dominating Jones, but I'm totally with you that Jones has been carefully crafted as a 'sleeper' hype machine product by Zuffa and co...not a top 15 win to his name and people are ready to hand him the belt...now do I think he's gonna be some bust? No...but his striking has been hyped up when he is in reality still raw with lots of flash (i'd hate to see him get "faber'ed" on some stupidly overused spinning backfist or something)..only thing he is working with at an elite level is wrestling and athleticism..his reach is out of this world, and although bonnar is all but a can now, those german suplexes (i think it was the bonnar fight) were impressive nonetheless...now I think Vera put himself in a very shitty position with this fight because by not finishing Randy (due to this absolute lack of killer instinct which is painful to watch such a gifted fighter struggle with) he guaranteed himself a loss....are you really gonna expect to decision a Randy Couture? Now he fights Jones where the mainstream perception of this fight doesn't have Vera at some+300 ridiculous type number which while slightly high is semi reasonable...lose lose situation....if he wins the fight, jones is painted as too green and vera still doesn't have a top ten W, and if he loses he's dropped two in a row with his last win over Soszynski if I remember correctly and he is borderline getting dropped from the UFC as his style nor name will really garner the money he's looking for...He just hasn't been good enough to be a decision fighter which is what he's gonna try to do against Jones who while shouldn't immediately be looked at as gods gift to LHW division, is formidable

he has Aldo-like potential, it's not just hype, he's a natural. i understand why people are reserved and not ready to give him his props but if he can stay humble and willing to learn he will be top 10. I haven't seen too many guys with the natural talent this guy has so early in his career. Vera had all the promise Jones has now but he said it himself, he got cocky and lazy.
just sayin Jon 'bones' Jones has everything it takes to be champion one day.

Bingo...
every Jon JOnes fights I have seen...he has looked more and more scary....especially with his last fight against Hamill...he was patient, precise and incredibly explosive when he found his opportunity.
Jon Jones is going to kill Vera..

From what i remember, Jones completely picked Matt Hammil apart on the feet. Even after the announcers continually spoke of how good Matt Hammil has become on his feet and how skilled his stand-up is now, especially compared to when he started. Which i agree with. He showed he has skills against Michael Bisping.

I agree completely, The reason I think Vera will dominate is because he has to; This is a statement fight he can't go out and win a close decision he has to win and win in a dominating fashion.

Hamill actually beat Jones to the punch quite a few times, and yes his striking has improved but his striking was god awful to begin with; How many people are afraid to stand up with Matt Hamill.

I think Jon Jones is the real deal. Now, I am not looking at my notes, but off the top of my head i believe:
He made his UFC debut with less than one year of training on short notice (like 3 weeks) against a legit bjj black belt and won convincingly. While Bonner is slow and not typical of the level of athlete you see in the UFC nowadays, he was a golden glove boxing champ and has decent hands. Jones made him look real bad.
From everything I read, elite trainers say he is dangerous on feet. Greg Jackson raves about his hands and athletisism, and GSP's long time trainer (name evading me), said he will "clean out the lhw division." The guy has the longest reach in the division. He made Hamil, who has improved dramitacally, look real bad.
Not saying he will walk right through Vera, but I dont think he is has been untested or sheltered in anyway. He was thrown right into the shark pool newcomer to the sport.

Vera is a good fighter its just that his hype at HW was not realistic. Wins over Justin Eilers, assuerio Silva, and a fat Frank Mir (destruction) don't make you the second coming.
