While it's countryman and Team Rough House teammate Dan Hardy who will next face St-Pierre, Daley could certainly find himself in title contention with another win over a top contender. With victories over Hazelett and Martin Kampmann already to Daley's credit, White said he believes "Semtex" has earned a shot at one of the 170-pound divisions top fighters, namely Jon Fitch (21-3 MMA, 11-1 UFC) or Josh Koscheck (14-4 MMA, 13-3 UFC).
I would love to see Daley vs Koscheck. Then Daley could take on Fitch or Alves next.
After confirming on Saturday that former PRIDE lightweight champion Takanori Gomi (31-5 MMA, 0-0 UFC) had signed with the UFC, company boss Dana White was mum on details about his first opponent.
However, when told that ESPN's "MMA Live" program posted a Twitter message saying co-host and top lightweight contender Kenny Florian (12-4 MMA, 10-3 UFC) could be Gomi's first challenge, White smirked.
I like this match up. I also think Frankie Edgar vs Takanori Gomi would be a good match up.
Despite his win over fellow top contender Thiago Silva in the main event of this past Saturday's UFC 108 event, former champ Rashad Evans won't get an immediate title shot.
Instead, UFC president Dana White plans to have Evans (14-1-1 MMA, 9-1-1 UFC) settle his grudge match against Quinton "Rampage" Jackson (30-7 MMA, 5-1 UFC), and he thinks the fight could happen at a UFC 113 event expected to take place May 1 in Montreal.
Evans doesn't deserve a title shot for winning one fight. Winner of this gets Machida/Shogun winner. I'd like to see the losers fight each other too.
