#1087but the first was as good as it gets. That is the type of fight i love to watch unless two guys have great hands. When Uriah picked up Yuri after losing that first two minutes i thought i was watching Hughes in his glory years again. Pickett just took a beating and Browne turtling up than coming back to me is more a blackeye on Reem than anything else. By the way Vaug do they teach defense with u Brits? Same shit with all of ur guys. Nice hands with no head movement or decent feet. Kongo, Pickett, and Hardy all must have the same boxing coach. Even Daley has holes in his defense.Comment -

#1089Yeah Pearson is the same way. I always thought if he could learn how to defend punches like he does with leg kicks he could beat Aldo. I never saw a fighter in my life be able to check leg kicks like Pearson. U would think he might want to learn how to chek a few punches. Still can't believe he lost to Cole Miller of all people.Comment -

#1090He was fighting on one leg against Cole tho, injured his knee and had operation straight away afterwards. Regardless, he does have a tendency to walk in to punches! Anybody we decent counter striking always has a chance against himComment -

#1092"In my opinion, Mauricio played the wrong game. He should've moved more to avoid the takedowns. Fighting on half guard against a wrestler isn't a good strategy. He should have brought Chael to his guard when he got taken down, tried to sweep him or land some punches. But Sonnen got his neck, unfortunately. My brother needs someone, he needs a head coach who can listen to. I always told him the truth no matter what, but I had issues with trainers from his camp. Maybe in the future I'll work with him again, who knows. I'll talk to him when he returns to Curitiba. He has a lot of shady persons around him, people trying to take advantage of him. People from his camp said I wasn't good for Mauricio because I made him nervous when I was on his corner, and he listened to that, so I decided to leave. If something is wrong I would point it out, I wouldn't just lie to please him."Comment -

#1093That loss was big for Shogun. I remember Shogun that ko'd Arona and before that killed world class competition to win it all.
Maybe stylistically Sonnen is the worst one for him. IT seemed Rua wasnt ready for that kind of pressure.Comment -

Hahah, did you all see this?
Ludwig on some goooood shiiit.
Guy earned it though, undefeated since becoming a coach. Hope he sniffed it off Ariannys breasteses.
Can just imagine him and all the manlets celebrating doing lines of coke off Arianny's flat ass whilst Master Tong sits on the computer in the corner losing all of Faberz bonus moneyz on poker!Comment -

#1096Shogun gave up the neck to stand up.. Chael Sonnen got the arms in choke and sub'd his ass. Shogun didn't give CS enough credit for his sub skills coming in..
The new camp paid off for Sonnen.. While he is an idiot with his mouth, he is smart when coming into fights and preparing for them...
Alister Overeem should go back on PED's and work on his cardio.. He gassed and lost.. I promise you Overeem has seen those Steven Segal bitch up kicks a million times.. He was gassed and coming forward with no defense in mind.. Surviving the round was in mind and he got lit up...
In the heavy weight division Cardio is KING to go along with a good chin and heart..
I do think the Ref should have stopped that fight though when Travis Browne was curled up like a bitch and taking head blows from AO early on... He was out on his feet with those knees that connected...
Overeem is having a bad go in the UFC so far.. Fedor repeat with Overeem. UFC is not for those guys...Last edited by JIBBBY; 08-20-13, 12:25 AM.Comment -

I imagine something akin to the TUF season with Faber where they were all going nuts in the other teams room, with Ludwig licking some prostitutes feet in the corner (Yeah Arianny) and Master Thong trying to catch squirrels with a fishing pole.Comment -

#1098Michael Johnson happened. The plan going into the fight was to try to take away his jab. If you try to take away his jab, you have to make him miss by a very narrow margin. Part of that is, you're going to get hit a little bit. We didn't do a very good job at that and that's where the whole plan started... I had great sparring partners and I had a great training camp. I was feeling strong. I was feeling fast. I was feeling super confident and I wasn't looking past him, because I knew how super tough he would be. Just looking at myself, I felt I was in great shape and ready to go and he right off the bat took me out of my game. I never really got started and usually, I like to come out and be really aggressive. He had a slight speed advantage on me when we started out at the beginning. If I couldn't catch him when I was at my best, and fresh, it got even worse when he was inflicting damage on me. He fought really smart. He beat me up a lot in the first and basically took the second and rested and kind of coasted a little bit. Then, he beat me up really good in the third. Give Michael credit: He fought a really, really smart fight... That was me at my worst, but I think you have to give credit to Michael, and I was so bad because he was at his best. I watched the fight three or four times [Sunday] and he just did a really, really good job."Comment -

#1099"Take away his jab".. wut? like he was gonna slip and counter?
And he didn't even attempt a takedown because he's "hard to takedown"? Well no shit, but he's also a way better kick boxer than you.
Sounds like awful gameplanning from his camp. He trains at his own gym anyway, no?Comment -

#1102Lauzon, McDonald and Pickett are making criminal money. Shogun and Sonnen get PPV cuts, so their salaries being so low are no surprise. I'm assuming Overeem doesn't get PPV cuts, but even still, he's being overpaid.Comment -

#1105yeah, Pickett is one of Dana's favourites so he gets plenty of back-hand bonuses, but still, he's had 6 fights now in UFC and 4 in WEC so 10 under Zuffa banner. You'd think he'd be on 35-45k to show by now, especially considering he's one of the most entertaining fighters on the roster. Kind of funny and disrespectful at same time that McDonald is only getting 3k more than Conor (to show money)!!Comment -

#1106I would guess since Overeem didn't come in as your average M-1 heavyweight that it was some flat money deal brokered in euros. I'd also guess that figure is pretty much 200k euros at the time Overeem joined UFC.Comment -

War Machine (Koppenhaver) did a blog on it recently, saying loads of fighters are gettin screwed by sponsors now as fighters are accepting anything so sponsors just keep lowering their offers. He said it IRRC that he was turning down £1000 offers out of principle because it was disrespectful (I may be wrong, might be lower). So he is expecting 3-5k or somethingComment -

#1109the sad thing is even if you make $25,000, you gotta pay people on your team.
i mean these guys risk getting their faces rearranged and who knows what multiple concussions do to your brain.
i know dana white's a good businessman but he needs to pay his fighters more money.Comment -
