#884I'm sure A3 will continue to do well when its all said and done. All the information you need is back in post 1 to continue following that play yourselves. A1 in hoops has also been a cash cow for a long time. Take those 2 systems, weight them properly and you guys will do good. This just isn't fun for me anymore, and its not even about the money. I make a very nice living in my daily job so there is no need for me to stress out about gambling anymore. This is way too much a part of my life and i want to do other things with my time. Bird watching, golf - fun stuff. lol
I used to find myself in my office watching all the games on TV and some on ESPN Gamecast at times, stressing myself for no reason. The worst part was that it made me unproductive since I spent my time watching the game, fretting over every play, etc. The result is going to be the same regardless. If you have mutual funds or things of that nature, I'm sure you don't check them every day or ever minute for that matter. Just from time to time to see how they're doing. Treat this the same way, as an investment, which it is.
I spent the entire day out doing the wifey thing, enjoying my Sunday. Got home and saw I was down 3 units for the day. Wasn't a big deal and didn't care much. Was just another day to me. Regardless if it was down 3 units or down 10 it wouldn't affect me. Sucks to be down but a part of the game we play. Just need to shrug it off and keep it moving.
Regardless of what you decide, I wish you all the best bro. No point in doing something you can't enjoy. Hope you find a way to continue and also enjoy the sport. If you find yourself not being able to do so then taking a break wouldn't be a bad idea. Maybe then you can come back with a different mindset and find yourself able to do both.Comment -

#885You need to learn to detach yourself from the games. No reason not to continue something that's been profitable for you over the long haul. Just need to learn to bet the games, not watch them and check results the next day. That's what I do and it provides so much more piece of mind.

there is no "break"....when i do something its final, and i am finished with this. again, its not about the money as i have been killing the nba over the past few months. its just time to stop.Comment -

#889hey moshi - if you werent so lazy and stupid, you would realize there is a little system i created called A2 which will more then adjust for "variance" should bats get corked, hitters find a new steroid etc....
so even if the 2-1 games that fill up the boxscore changed one season (to 10-9) i had myself covered with the A2.....Comment -

#890tough when you're actually a huge fan of the sport rick. i love watching baseball, and it has nothing to do with gambling.

I understand how tough it can be. I'm not as big a baseball fan as I am basketball and football but I relate nonetheless. Regardless you said that you didn't need to stress about gambling which is something else I related too and was just trying to share an experience in hopes that you would change your mind.
I don't think taking a break is a bad thing like you make it out to be. Nothing should be final to the point of no return. There is nothing that says you can't enjoy still doing this without letting it wear on you. Everything in life, including this, requires balance.
I really hope you reconsider. Not for selfish reasons but because the board would be losing a knowledgeable capper and poster. It's because of people like you and LTA that I've learned a different aspect / side to gambling and am forever grateful for. It would be a shame for others not to get the same opportunity.
I wish you all the best in all your endeavors though. You seem like a genuinely nice person and if it's not bringing you any happiness then it's obviously not worth the time and effort.Comment -

#891Jeeez, one bad week of a marathon of a season and the God of this message board quits gambling. I'm new to this board, so not sure about all this history...but if history has treated Dexter well with his system, why would he quit after a bad week? Has Dexter ever heard of variance?
It's your life, my man, but I'm just a little shocked to see the white flag being raised after a bad week. Good luck to everyone else continuing to grind it out.Comment -

It's not about money for me either, it's about putting the bet in and winning the bet as crazy as that sounds. I hate losing to no end. I'm not a good loser either when I do lose. My two loves in this life are Texas Holdem and betting sports. There's a famous saying by a poker player named Stu Ungar "Show me a good loser and I'll show you a LOSER".
I don't know why I started betting on sports 2 years ago when I was making a good living playing poker. But, now I'm addicted to betting sports. Maybe I need to go back to poker. But, I do know one thing, I would be light years behind the race in sports betting without Dexter, LTA or BettingWizard. I was a fish out of water when I first put my first bet in 2 years ago. I thought I knew everything and was the ultimate square, but this forum has taught me alot.
I guess it's an addiction for me. I love putting the bet in and torture myself by watching, I can't help it. Dexter, is your birthday by any chance in February or March?
I know I'm a Pisces and one of my in laws is a Pisces and we're the 2 biggest gamblers in the family..lol. Anyways, hope you're happy with whatever decision you make.Comment -

#897That's the problem, and that's why it will be hard to quit cold turkey. I've tried it. I realize it's not about the money. It's the thrill of the chase and a fresh set of lines in front of you. For me, first it was fantasy sports and now this. I want to get out at times, but I'm in too deep because of the thrill of being on the right side. Money is irrelevant. Hope you find your "out" for good if that's what you're truly looking for.
dont let these clowns on here mock you for betting small amounts. nothing wrong with that while you figure things out.Comment -

#898Hahaha, I already subject my wife and kids to this. I'm 31 and married with 2 kids and they see me yelling and cursing at the tv from 7PM to 11PM. It's not about the money for me either. I feel the same way about sports if I was a Millionaire or a broke bum under a bridge. I love baseball and football to no end.

To me it is about money. It's about winning money. I have my own company and thus am financially stable but I'm always looking for more ways to make money. I approach gambling with a clear business mindset and nothing else. Guess that's what makes it easier for me to deal with.Comment -
