    If-bets?
somthing I hadn't noticed before on one of my books sites..

    They have If bets...

does anyone ever play these? is there a time where it is useful?

Did one the last getaway day, where there were early, regular, and late games... and it worked out really well.

but it seems like a bad proposition over the long term

If bets are only useful if you have a small bankroll. If you could afford it, just play the games straight.

I like them when I don't have a lot in my account, especially during football. If your funds are tied up in an event still going on, you could just do an if wager.

I'll do an if bet if two starts overlap (eg 7pm & 9pm) and I don't feel confident enough to parlay them.

Wish everybook adopt Betjamaica's "virtual cash" idea.

There is one other possible use: If you'd like to hedge the last game of a parlay that overlaps your second to last play...

I never hedge parlays. If that is the intent, why parlay in the first place?

as ganch suggested, if bets can be used to construct converse parlay. but not many books let you do that.

refer to the handicap section for the thread.

Some people like to small plays on big parlays at times. If you get lucky enough to hit your first number of plays, I don't see anything wrong with locking in some guaranteed profit.

Right. Multiple books are helpful in that regard.
