* Mypa 47 is currently in second place in the Finnish soccer league, trailing the league leaders, Inter Turku, by just 2 points. Victory today against Tampere will hand them 3 points and first place in the league.
* Looking at the pitching match-up in the Texas/Twins game, one expects a Twins win and a high-scoring game.
* While some of Garza's recent performances may not inspire, his poor performances are limited to the road. Garza's home form is sterling, where he owns a stingy 2.38 ERA. Halladay boasts a sparkling 2.44 ERA on the road. He shut out the Yankees in his last road trip. Considering that Tampa Bay isn't a slaughter house by any means, one expects the Jays/Rays game to conveniently go Under the posted total.

* Euro U19 Soccer Championship: Hungary, one of the hottest teams in the championship is at home against Germany. In this championship, Germany has fared well but Hungary has been one of the hottest teams and even boasts a road victory over the "mighty" Spainiards. Hungary is our favorite to beat Germany.
* A's/Yankees: The Under appeals in this game but the Under play is tricky these days. Duchscherer is 1-0 against the Yankees and has a chance today to up that record to 2-0.
* Mets/Reds: Pelfrey is awesome but the Reds have so much going for them right now. With "Cy" Volquez on the mound for the Reds, outscoring the Mets by 2 runs or more isn't asking too much of them right now.
* Don't be deceived by Lincecum's and Parra's stats, the Brewers/Giants game will produce at least 8 runs. These teams' batters have been hot lately and they don't seem intent on going on vacation today.
* Phillies/Marlins: This is an easy Over play, more so that late runs will contribute significantly to the total number of runs.

Braves@Marlins: The Braves woeful road record is no news. Campillo is good but how much runs support will he get? Volstad allowed just one run in 10 innings to start off his MLB career. He's 2-0 with a stingy 0.84 ERA. Given he'll get more runs support than Campillo and has the home advantage, he's likely to improve his record to 3-0 tonight.
Twins@Yankees: Blackburn has been awesome for the Twins but Ponson is 10-2 in 15 appearances against the Twins. Plus the Twins are 8-22 at the Yankees stadium. The Yankees clearly have the edge here.
Red Sox/Mariners: Washburn has given up two earned runs or less in six of his last seven starts, while Lester owns a road ERA of 3.92. Plus the Red Sox are 3-11 against the Mariners and are 5-14 on the road. The Mariners are poised to take this series opener.

Sorry, the picks you're thumping me up for are my Saturday picks. I mistakenly wrote "Friday, 08/02" but have now corrected it. I actually went MLB: 4-3 +1.35 on Friday MLB games. It could have been 5-2 if not that I deluded myself into thinking the Angels RL would cash.
I hope to continue to refine my criteria in order to do better.
