No doubt about it. Very disappointing. Lead the whole game, only to blow in in the 9th. Figured the game was headed that way after the Jays got 2 back in the 8th against Johnson, who's been one of the better setup guys around. Almost inevitable Sherrill would give it up with just the 1 run to work with. He's completely hit the wall the last few weeks. Absolute gascan at the moment.

I came close to playing the D-Backs/Nats under. Glad I ended up passing. 1 bad beat is enough for the day. What a crazy game that was.

Yeah, Pitt was a nice bet for us. Paul Malholm has really pitched quite well for most of the year. Out of Gorzolany, Duke, Snell, and him...he's sort of now emerged as the best pitcher have that talented (but struggling) group of young pitchers.

RJT: What do you think of these season bets I made before the start of the year...do you think they have any chance:

          Cubs UNDER 88
          Astros UNDER 77
          Pirates OVER 69

          Thanks....

I love the Pirates over. Think you're in very good shape with that one. Looking at it from the perspective they only need to go 27-44, which is the same win percentage the Mariners have attained so far in their miserable season, to reach 70, it's tough to imagine they won't reach that mark. I think they will finish closer to 80 wins than 70, so this should cash comfortably. Maholm's always been tough at home, and now he's performing much better on the road, with four straight Quality Starts away from home. Snell threw the ball better in his first start off the DL, and that's a really talented offense in Pittsburgh. They really might have the best OF in baseball with Bay, McLouth and Nady.

I think the Astros might play a little better during the second half, but they do have the worst record in baseball since late May. They need to play over .500 ball from now on to surpass 77 wins. That's going to be tough playing in that division. I don't think this play is in quite as strong of a position as the Pirates over, but it appears to be the right side.

I would have leaned Cubs under 88 before the season. Never would have predicted Ryan Dempster would perform as he has, or that Kerry Wood would be as reliable in the closer role. They might not finish with the best record in baseball, but it's probably asking too much for them to go 32-37 over the second half, which would still only give you a push. They should finish somewhere in the mid 90s, so I really can't see Under 88 holding up.

I think you're likely to go 2-1 with these. Pirates Over looks very strong, Cubs Under is on life support and Astros Under appears strong as well, as Houston has been the worst team in baseball, just as poor as the Nationals, for going on six weeks. That play looks better by the day, and Houston will need to turn it around quickly, something they haven't shown any indication of doing, to come close to approaching 77 wins.

            Good luck.

Thanks RJT for your insights. Day off for me today from MLB. Although, I may play the WSH/DET WNBA total tonight...still thinking about it. If you make any WNBA plays you should post those too....
