My apologies to anyone who had Rays -1.5
I think it's safe to say that's the worst beat of the season. Red Sox scored 2 complete gift/fluke runs in this game. Drew clearly took strike 3 on a 2-2 pitch with 2 outs in the 6th (even began to throw is bat down), only to have the umpire not ring him up. Drew homered 2 pitches later. You had to see the 9th inning to believe it -- after Manny struck out to start the inning, followed by Lowell doubling and Youkilis singling, Brandon Moss hit a routine fly that was easily playable, only the ball hit the catwalk and landed in fair territory, allowing Lowell to score and Youk to move to third. After a sac fly got the Sox within 1, Percival was injured covering third as Moss tagged up. Thankfully, Julio Lugo's spot was up next, allowing Rays ML backers (myself included) to survive. The madness got me a push on the under, but I can only imagine the sickness felt by those that had TB -1.5.

I'd be willing to bet a large sum of money that you don't know what varience [sic] means. If you did, you wouldn't make such a ridiculous statement.

Always bet ML and if you feel extra you put your bet on in ratio to where its ML and Run line... betting pure RL is a disaster waiting to happen.

Agree- runlines are like any other type of wager. There's value in the right price for the right event.

That catwalk double killed the under bettors as well. Terrible beat.

The White Sox sure did try to kill their runline today.

I was on Rays ML, Sox/Rays Under (at least got it at 9) and ChiSox -1.5. Talk about a stressful night.

                                  I would say.

I liked the Sox/Rays Under and the White Sox RL, but never bet them.

I think the White Sox tried to lose the game.

Not wise to go with RL on the home team.

But they do work. There are teams that often win or lose by at least 2 runs (e.g., the Mariners). They work more with games in which one side's RPG is significantly higher than the other or where there's a great mismatch in the ERAs of the starting pitchers (granted the starting pitchers go far into the game). I won't pick the RL in a Angels/A's game, for instance.
