Soriano's actually a pretty poor leadoff hitter in terms of consistently getting on base. Only one season in his career with an OBP +.340.

How about David Dejesus? He is consistently a good leadoff year after year. He is really similar to Damon.

Ian Kinsler's a terrific player, although I think most who follow baseball are aware of his talents (at least they should be).
I'd say a guy like David DeJesus would more fitting of the underrated label.

If you play fantasy baseball, you know about all these guys.
But yes, to the average person, they are under the radar.

Most underrated, but not for long player is Zimmerman with the Nats. Without him the Nats would be a .200 team not even close to what they are right now. He's like 23 and already the leader of that team.
From ESPN, May 25 2007: "The only AL first baseman outslugging him is Justin Morneau. Nobody beats him in OPS, batting average, runs scored or multihit games. And one AL executive wanted to make sure we noticed what an underrated defender he is -- so now that he mentions it, Youkilis hasn't made an error at first since last July."
In 07 Youkilis made $424,500, the fourth-lowest salary on the club. This year he signed a one-year contract for $3 million.
Through June 17th, Youkilis was batting .305 and was 6th in the AL in extra base hits (32), 7th in OBS (.906), and 8th in runs (44), RBIs (44), doubles (19), total bases (132) and slugging percentage (.530).
I think hes a bit under paid, cause is there a man you want to send out in the 9th 1 down with bases loade and 2 outs hes one of them... Thats what I think...
Youkilis was maby the most underrated in 07 with a $424,500 salary..
