MLB Pitcher alternative lines q

Hi guys, im a newbie to sport-gambling but i have decided i'd like to play pitchers instead of whole team play....but if I do bet on a pitcher matchup....im only betting on the pitcher-pitching the 1st 5 innings??? could someone explain it more please...thx in advance.
