Baseball Underdog of the Day Contest - Saturday, 6/14/08
Starting Sunday (June 1), we will start a new June Baseball Underdog of the Day Contest with a prize of $200 account at DSI, 3 time roll-over. Last place will receive a $25 DSI account with a 3 time roll over. If there is a tie for last place in both units and wins (20 plays minimum), there will be be multiple last place boobie prizes.

    *IMPORTANT*
All players must have an account at DSI prior to making picks SIGN UP Here.

Before participating, players must PM their Diamond Sports International account ID to SBRforum Staff

    1. Check in the BASEBALL HANDICAPPING FORUM each day for the daily thread to be posted by LT Profits. Lines will be posted by 1:00 p.m. (ET) each day. Plays may be posted before that, but the official posted lines will be used for grading.

    2. Only the UNDERDOGS in games posted by LT will be eligible for selection, which will be only games that have underdog prices of greater than +110.

    3. All plays will be RISKING one unit, and selections may NOT be changed once posted.

    4. Here’s the catch: Your play must include a write-up! The write-up does not have to be long, just a sentence or two (or more) about why you are making your play.

    5. Entries that are past-post or do not have analysis will be NO ACTION. Any edited post will count as a LOSS! If you make a mistake, need to add analysis or wish to enter a corrected line, do so in a separate post. This holds true even if the first game on the schedule did not go off yet. It also holds true for past-posts and entries with no analysis. It does NOT hold true for posts that are not contest selections, i.e. standings, commentary posts, LT's notes to posters or congratulatory posts.
*-EXCEPTION: If someone edits a post on the last day of the competition in an attempt to get an automatic loss in order to win the Last Place prize, then the original post will stand.

    6. And here’s the fine print:

    • Must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
    • One entry per home and computer.
    • Must use lines posted in daily thread by LT Profits
    • Maximum one underdog pick per day, minimum 20 underdog plays required to be eligible for monthly prize.
    • Tiebreaker for first place is total WINS. If still tied, combatants will carry on a head-to-head underdog match until winner is determined. This would begin on the first day of next month with no passes allowed. If co-leader passes during tie-breaking period, he or she is eliminated, even if other co-lealers lose.
    • All decisions made by SBR with regards to this contest are final.
    • SBR employees eligible to participate but are not eligible to win the monthly prize.

Red Sox haven't lost back to back games since May 27-28. The Reds have won 2 in a row, but with their inconsistency, I don't think they should be no -150 against the world champions, no matter who they have on the mound.

LT, woulden't it be smart to remove the people from the standings who only have made a few plays since there is no way they would be able to reach 20 plays since its already June 14th

#961 Col +168 : i'm sticking with them, same as yesterday, the Chi-town boys can't hit lefties good and the Rocks can't hit righties, only this time the Rocks are facing a lefty, they have been shattering lefties as of late and the pen is still overachieving except for the hiccup yesterday.

That's ok, some guys play for fun to strengthen their writing skills.

                  It's not a big deal.

TWINS +138: The Twins erupted for a 10-2 win last night, making them 10-4 in the last 14 meetings with the Brewers, and they absolutely crushed Suppan when he faced them last year, tearing him up for nine earned runs and 10 hits in just 4.2 innings. Perkins recovered from a couple of poor outings to allow three runs in 5.1 innings at Chicago vs. the White Sox last start, and he has the advantage of facing the Brewers for the first time. Also Milwaukee is batting .229 vs. southpaws the last 10 games.

Volquez has been strong this year, but Boston at +142 is a nice price.

Wakefield actually has a better ERA and WHIP the last 3 than Volquez.

+142 is where its at even with the Red Sox injuries.

I'm going against LA pitcher Santana against a good lefty batting team that the Braves have. I expect with the DH in LA, the Braves should put many runs on the boards.

How can you not take Penny at this price considering Bonine had a 4.48 ERA at triple-A before being called up?

Penny has looked pretty good last 2 starts.
Bonine should get rocked this afternoon.

Line movement is too significant to pass up. The game is televised, the Sox have something to play for!

I was shocked to see the line this high with Penny going against Triple A fodder. Got to go with the veteran!

Luke Hochevar is getting the start for the Royals and the last time Luke pitched was against the Yankees where he was a +200 dog and the Royals were able to beat the Yankees. I'll back Luke again as this big of a dog against the struggling Dbacks.

5th straight play against oakland; 0-5 in contest this month and getting close to last place; f**king oakland never wins when I am on them.

cain decent pitcher and san fran at home, although oakland has to go just across bay.
