I would have taken Dallas -2 but I'm waiting it out because the public is pounding Miami. The game is now at a pickem at my book.

I would not be surprised if I get Dallas and some points tonight.

The only thing that worries me is the officiating. I kind of feel the NBA wants the Heat to win and would love to see them go home needing to win only one game.

That being said, I feel Dallas is due for one of those games in which they shoot lights out from downtown.

If the line started at Miami getting 2, and is now at pick, does that mean the books know Miami is most likely going to win so they took off the 2 points or if that was the case would they have just taken 2 from Miami to begin with instead of Dal?

I am not sure if I am correct but I heard the books try to split the betting 50/50 so that they make juice without paying out of their pockets. So if big money is put on one team the books adjust the line to encourage betting on the other team. That's what I think...

I think your very right, because the books definitely without a doubt in my mind know that the players track lines...so what's better for the books than to manipulate the lines so the players bet in a certain direction when the books know the game is going to go in the opposite direction? Thanks for saying that because that reminds me/points out one of the main reasons why I dont really line-track, because the BOOKS are the ones who post the lines!!! Don't you (the players in general) think that if the books knew Miami (or any team) was going to win they would make the line on that team +130 or even +200? Cause who's going to bet on a team thats +200??

From what I've seen so far this playoffs, is that it's all about the money and ratings to the NBA. They see a huge cash cow in a heat dynasty over the next 5 years.

that makes sense, they definitely rigged it for the most boring team in the nba pistons to get there in 04 AND beat the lakers quick. i'm sure they also loved rigging it for a boring team from one of the 3 smallest tv markets in the country to win it 4 times(spurs)

This is what's holding me back fin taking Dallas big

The Bulls had the Heat defeated but the refs started calling fouls and technicals to keep Miami in the game until they finally made enough plays to win.

Same with Dallas against OKC. In one game Dirk had like 26 FTs. It's pretty obvious the league wanted a Miami/Dallas final.

I think the league wants the Heat to win. The league would love to seem Miami go home needing to win only one of two to win a title.

I could definitely see the NBA trying to give this game to Miami and then trying to give game 6 to Dallas because they know Miami won't lose a game 7 at home.

Dal has the same # of horses as Chi - ONE. They've already won one more game than the Bulls against the Heat. Mia wins the next 2.

The spurs are ranks 9th as the most valued teams so i dont know where you get smallest 3 from....Detroit pistons are ranked 13th so there above half the teams and even above teams like thunder and nuggets...

smallest 3 tv markets(franchise value is irrelevant here) which is an indicator of what national tv ratings will be(gg was implying the nba rigs the finals for ratings)...top of the ratings list would be lakers, knicks, bulls, heat, mavs which all come from the biggest tv markets

its not about how high the team is valued. its about ratings, detroit is a mid range tv market but in 04 they played the most boring style of basketball imaginable they were the last team the nba would want to be in the finals. gg has some theory of the nba rigging it every year for ratings, if that was the case the spurs would never be allowed to sniff a chance at the finals and the 04 pistons shouldve been out 1st round
