I don't care how cold the Cards are or how bad Lohse is.
Cards are only a slight favorite in Pittsburgh on Wednesday night.
Don't miss out.

Red Sox too.
Fade these four to the bank from here on out.
I'm loving the A's tomorrow Houli -- what do you think?

-150 is outta my price range, but given the situation they should win.

-150 as an inferior team record-wise with a total of 7 and fairly even pitching matchup says it all IMHO. That's a big number, and one I'm willing to lay in this spot.

Thanks yisser. Morton is an autofade and should be played on the run line also. I believe Pirate opponents are 12-2 on the run line in games he's started this season.

I couldn't pull the trigger on the run line with the ML being only -110. Ridiculously favorable odds against Morton. Seems like I say this every time he pitches and yet he continues to be a revenue stream. You'd think the books would adjust, but I guess most of the betting public isn't paying close enough attention to punish them for it.

He has really been the surest bet in baseball all season. I started the fade his first game to be honest with you. As a Braves fan, I've known for a while how absolutely awful Charlie is.
Now inevitably we will see someone pop in here and say either he's not that bad/has good stuff/hasn't put it together or that he has pitched well his last couple times out. The first statement (or set of statements) is absolute bullshit and anybody that believes it doesn't know what they are talking about; the second statement is actually true. He did pitch pretty well his last time out, and the Pirates still lost on the run line. He pitched pretty well the time before that too, and the Pirates lost. Charlie has had stretches for a game or three where he doesn't look half bad. It's why he's still in the league, if you consider the Pirates to be a true MLB team. But he inevitably follows those outings up with a string of absolute slaughterings and embarrassments.
In summary, yes STL is not playing well and they could always lose this game. Yes, Morton has the rare ability to pitch a decent game. But the fact remains the Pirates are 2-12 versus the run line in his starts this year. You'd be hard pressed to find a more consistent money maker on the year and this is your last or second to last opportunity of the season to capitalize on it. I think it's well worth the risk at STL -110, and maybe even a sprinkle on the run line.

from the AP preview:
Morton (1-11, 8.61 ERA) will search once again for his first win since beating the Cubs on May 5. The right-hander is 0-6 with a 7.43 ERA in eight starts since.
He didn't get a decision in Thursday's 6-2 loss at New York, but it was his eighth consecutive start and 13th of 14 to result in a Pittsburgh defeat. He allowed two runs, five hits and a season-high four walks in five innings.
Morton may be in for another rough outing against St. Louis. He has compiled a 11.70 ERA while losing all three of his career meetings with the Cardinals.
St. Louis has dropped six of nine and 24 of 30, as its magic number for elimination from the NL Central race is down to four.
"We're trying to win," center fielder Colby Rasmus told the team's official website. "We just can't seem to put a finger on what's going on. I just chalk it up to baseball. Nobody's coming in here wanting to lose. Everybody wants to do good. We just ain't got no mojo right now."
St. Louis starter Kyle Lohse (4-7, 6.75) will try to continue his dominance of the Pirates. The veteran right-hander is 5-0 with a 2.26 ERA in eight games - seven starts - against Pittsburgh. He beat the Pirates again Aug. 23, yielding two runs in 5 1-3 innings of a 10-2 win at PNC Park.

No, he hasn't.
He hasn't been terrible his last two times out, but neither was a particularly good start.
5 innings, 5 hits, 4 walks against the Mets is a good start?
The performance against the Reds was his best of the season, but it was merely average by normal standards.
If you mean by Charlie Morton standards, sure, he's been great his last two times out.

I think he was being facetious yisman. I said that inevitably someone would come in here and make those exact comments. I should have added that somebody would come in and say "Charlie Morton gets a win tonight", because that's happened the last two times I've started this exact same thread about one of his upcoming games.

2-1 now on the wild pitch. STL does look pretty disinterested at the plate. Morton getting ahead in the count, getting quick outs. Could be a long game for STL backers.
