Why are there so many no hitters this year?

I was debating this with some friends tonight. Why have there been so many no no's and near misses this year? Its ridiculous. Whats everyones opinion/reasoning?

u talking about handful of games where 1 team put lots of balls in play with just 1 hit or less

in 2400 games/season, odds are it's gonna happen certain number of times, and this year there's a few more than usual

IMO MLB did something with the ball this year. No one would have to know except the Comish and the guy in charge of making the balls, Why would they do this? Simple, to lessen the public perspective of every one on steroids by making it more of a pitchers game.
