In chase mode now after being blanked on Thursday and I'm thinking about making an unusually large play on this game.
Thoughts?

Like Cecil over Garza. TB bullpen had to go above and beyond in the Twins series, and they'll be needed for Garza on Friday. Garza's given up 8 runs in 11.1 innings against TOR this year; the Jays have beaten Tampa twice in Tampa with Cecil on the bump this season.

Not sure what's so attractive about the Giants to make a large play. Hanson has 3 straight QS including an 18/3 K/BB ratio, the last two @ CIN and @WASH - two offenses a helluva lot better than the Giants on the road.

ATL regulars are batting .198 collectively vs. Zito.
Where are the SF cheerleaders when you need them around here? Is this a good play guys?
I'm trying to figure out why Hanson is getting so much love from oddsmakers here; is it simply because of ATL's home record?

I'm just not a big Hanson fan. He's mediocre. Hasn't been particularly sharp at home either, giving up 13 runs in his last 21.2 IP there.

Hanson is a very talented young pitcher, has the arm to be elite. I think oddsmakers respect his talents. He has been a favorite all but once his last 10 starts. I'm not saying the Giants aren't a good play, it just seems like this is a tough game to cap. Certainly not a spot to lay a big bet. GL.

There are definitely trends that favor ATL, but I like these instead:
Giants are 5-0 in their last 5 when their opponent allows 2 runs or less in their previous game.
Giants are 7-1 in their last 8 after scoring 2 runs or less in their previous game.
Giants are 7-1 in their last 8 games following a loss.
Giants are 7-1 in their last 8 during game 2 of a series.
Giants are 14-2 in their last 16 games vs. a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30.
Giants are 13-4 in their last 17 road games.
Giants are 21-7 in their last 28 overall.
Giants are 21-7 in their last 28 games on grass.
Giants are 8-3 in their last 11 road games vs. a right-handed starter.
Giants are 13-5 in their last 18 games vs. a right-handed starter.
Giants are 10-4 in their last 14 vs. a team with a winning record.
Giants are 7-3 in their last 10 Friday games.
Giants are 7-2 in Zitos last 9 starts vs. National League East.
Giants are 9-3 in Zitos last 12 starts with 5 days of rest.
Giants are 19-7 in Zitos last 26 starts during game 2 of a series.
Braves are 1-6 in their last 7 games following a win.
Braves are 1-6 in their last 7 after allowing 2 runs or less in their previous game.
Braves are 0-4 in Hansons last 4 starts.

I lean Reds and love fading the Cubs on a Friday afternoon, but CIN hasn't been hitting lefties particularly well if I'm not mistaken.
That line is weird too -- why aren't the Reds favored?

A lot of those were in favor of Giants today and they lost.
It's a hard team to figure out, they had very good AB's but couldn't get the runs in on clutch time.

It's because their offense is short one big bat at least. Probably two.
As for the Reds, Gorzo's only given up 4 ER in 12.1 IP with 16 K's vs. CIN this season -- even though the Cubs lost both games. And the Reds are 1-4 in their last 5 road games vs. a lefty.

I'm a Giants homer, but like Pauulz says the Giants are a tough team to cap. Zito's been solid almost all year, yet do you ever feel comfortable backing him after the last few years? 62 wins thus far is not a fluke. They have some bats, Molina is no longer on the team!
Giants should have won today. They are definitely a nice dog for tomorrow. I'll take them small

i dont think rolen plays day games so i doubt he will even be in the line up. but yes they dont hit lefties as well. my initial thoughts are the reds, but i gotta look into it a lil more.
i think giants are a solid play. braves dont hit lefties that well either. i think heywards avg goes down to the 100s when going up against a lefty.

and watching that giants/braves game. giants did out hit the braves. also it was the 2 home runs that won the game for them. they never threatened, never got a rally going, never got a man to third.

Giants had huge AB's, they got denied on that game, fvcking sucks.
A few fly balls on the warning track by the Giants caught at the warning track and other shit like not being able to get clutch hits with 2 outs and men in scoring position.
Was a bad beat mostly.

i like those plays, but not sure which ones i will play. the only one i question is texas right now. they may become like the yanks soon where you wont know when they will come out to play. they have almost a 9 game lead in that division and the more the angels lose the less i trust that team. they may come to play to avoid a sweep but i probably wont play then the first game of the series.

One must be careful and not get bogged down in the sheers numbers of what may be considered to be a bit arbitrary.
How has Zito specifically matched-up with the this lineup within a meaningful set of ABs; I mean, have you seen him in his outings against this line-up?
I only ask, as you said you were going to put an unusually large play on SF tomorrow, and that'd be something I'd have to know to make a bet like that.
