They almost did in SD. I am not quite sure how Lilly is going to pitch but they looked the best they have at the plate tonight in over a month. They may have to win 8-6 but they will get it done.

You might be able to scalp this tomorrow. I see the public pushing Latos tomorrow into a favorite and you might be able to get the Dodgers at plus money. If the line stays with Lilly as the favorite then I would be worried.

Their offense did pretty well against the Giants on Friday, that first game where they scored 5 runs on 10 hits. Do you think tonight was substantially different? In other words, do you think their offense is back on track?
btw, I did notice that Kemp went 5 for 5 tonight, with a dinger! That's gotta be a positive sign for them.
Anyways, bol!

From 1 to 8 they look 10 times better at the plate. They looked much more comfortable at the plate last night. They were laying off bad pitches and actually looked like they had a plan at the plate. Ethier smoked two balls that were right at the outfielders. They had two inning ending double plays because they had line drives right at gonzalez and all he had to do was step on his bag. If they can hit half as well they did last night they will easily put up 7 runs. I see a breakout inning, say the 3rd, where they score at least 5 runs.

My question to you guys is if they scored 11 runs last night would you feel different about the game today? They had enough hits and baserunners just a couple of unfortunate events, too many to list, that will not happen tonight. Even Furcal who if you look at the box score it looks like he struggled. He had quality at bat after quality at bat last night. He is better from the left side of the plate where he will be tonight and i bet he has 3 hits tonight. You haters can talk all you want but when they smash Latos tonight you will be

Latos is wearing down. Only 5 innings in his last start against the Dodgers. He hasn't faced a good hitting team in over a month. Dodgers are going to shock him today. His last 3 games before the Dodgers were the Pirates, the Nats, and the Astros. Latos goes 5 innings and gives up 5 runs.

I'll bet you 100 points on under 5 runs allowed for Latos.

He has given up more than 4 runs only once in 19 starts. You don't seem very confident in your wager.

The pitcher they were facing may have had something to do with them looking more comfortable at the plate. Richard has stunk for two months.
If only they can hit against Latos like they did vs Richard they're golden

They haven't hit lefties well all year. Last night was progress. I don't care who was throwing last night like I said it wasn't the results that I was pleased with. It was their approach to each at bat. The fact that Latos only went 5 against them in S.D. should be cause for concern also. He has never pitched this many innings in his life before and he is starting to wear down. He isn't as sharp as he was earlier in the year.

Hell when it doubt just look at the odds. I thought for sure with Lilly on the mound and Latos going the Dodgers would be dogs. They opened up Latos as a dog for a reason. They don't need to entice anyone extra to bet him he has been one of the best pitchers so far this year. They know exactly what they are doing and that has made me even more confident.
Do you think that LA has a plan tonight to shutdown or minimize the somewhat-improved Padres offense (Tejada, Ludwick), so that a repeat of yesterday does not happen again?

The fact that the line isn't moving with so much action on the Pads should be a little concerning for Padres backers.

The CWS and Detroit game earlier was a prime example why you shouldn't read to much into line movement.

Lilly has great career numbers against ludwick. Headley and Venable are the ones that hurt them last night. They score 5 off of weaver who has been absolutely terrible lately. I don't think Headley and Venable can repeat those performances. Both of SD's home runs barely cleared the fence. They had a some luck in that game and if they can stay that lucky tonight so be it. The padres caught every break possible last night and are going to need that to continue tonight if they want to win. If the Dodgers can catch 1 break they will win.
