who the hell wants Zambrano,Fuckudome, or Lee? Laa actually wanted Lee for some unknown reason but as we know he squashed that...dont see why they cant deal Lilly or Ramirez (doubt they trying to move him)........

White Sox should take Zambrano..he is friends with Ozzie and can pitch well when properly motivated.

saw that Lee refused to be dealt. must have a good herb dealer in Chi-town. They had one in place for him.
Fukudome's deal is too pricey, and no one wants him or that.
Lilly will be moved by the deadline.

yea i could see that but they would be having to give him away and pick up money for anyone to take him i would think...talk about a sell low situation for the cubs....

The Cubs are upside down in many the above players contracts. No even trade available and the Cubs would be on the hook for much of the players remaining salary and not have the player. It's a bad situation and more proof of Jim Hendry being one of the worst GM's in baseball.

Hendry should be drawn and quartered for the contracts he handed out, just awful structure on that team, worst in baseball.

At this point they really just have to ride the situation out. Ownership needs to get a real baseball mind to be the GM of the club and not some clown like Hendry. Maybe something falls in there lap, but if I was put in charge of the organization i would do a complete overall of the organization. I would make a commitment to scouting and development and build from the ground up and when I got in contention again I would trade for a nice piece or build through a free agent signing in the off season. Bottomline... the cubs have no value in any of there free agents which gives them negative player equity.

Take the Washington Nats.. They are a joke now, but the club is doing it the right way. They are building from the ground up and will compete in the NL East seriously within 3-5 yrs. The owner of the team has money and when they get into contention they will have the prospects and money to get the piece or pieces that put them over the top.

The Nats are doing the same way the Braves began there run in the early 90's and the president of the team is Stan Kasten.. The same man that helped orchestrate Atlanta's run. The Braves were awful team for yrs but started to build from the ground up in the late 80's and when they got right they started signing and trading for free agents that put them over the top.

Look at the class of the Braves from the early 90's that became starts: Glavine, C.Jones, Smoltz, Avery, acquired Maddux from Cubs with a team loaded with prospects, got Mcgriff, Galaragga, etc.. can't remember them all but they did it from the bottom up.

The Braves turned around when they got great baseball minds running the organization: John Sherholtz,Stan Kasten, Bobbie Cox, actually the GM at the time of the improvement rather than the manager. They made a commitment to scouting and development and turned the corner.

The Cubs GM doesn't understand player equity. He has no clue of that value. You have to have guys outperform there contracts to be a success. All the Cubs players outside of there young talent is priced to perfection. When you have strong player equity than you can win and stay viable for a long time.

Take the Braves for example.. They have strong player equity. Yes, the Braves have several bad contracts but overall the value of the team is huge. Most of Atlanta's players outperform there contract and they are working with a budget 60 Million less than the Cubs. The Braves have 3-4 bad contracts: Chipper Jones, Derek Lowe, Kenshin Kawakami, Nate Mcclouth.. Other than those guys everybody else is outperforming there contract value.

Wrigley Field is 95 years old.And it’s showing its age.
The ballpark reeks of, in former Cub Mark Grace’s words, “vomit and urine.” There are no elevators to take fans to the upper level. Cats are kept on the premises to deal with the rat population.

The Cubs are dysfunctional. Always have and always will be.

And Yes, Wrigley is a dump. Going to the bathroom with those troughs is like walking out the back door of some hole in the wall bar to take a piss in the back alley.
