Unfortunately, the game starts in a half hour and if I write my usual write-up, I will run out of time. I will post why I like this in a second, but take the Under in today's afternoon game of 9 Runs.
First the recap, won yesterday with the over in the Blue Jays game, pushed on the Cubs total, and also hit a 3 team parlay. Back on the winning track. Early afternoon game today against the Rockies and Phillies. We have Jason Hammel going for the Rockies and Joe Blanton for the Phillies. Let's talk about hammel first. Guy had an amazing month of June. He did not record a loss in June, won 3 consecutive starts and got 2 no decisions. Overall, he is 7-5 with a 4.23 ERA. Past 2 starts Rockies have failed to give him any run support with a whopping 4 runs scored total. I like Hammel I think he's a workhorse, he gives quality starts most of the time and goes deep into games. His record might not prove this, but I think he's a solid arm on the rubber. Let's talk about Mr. Blanton for the Phils now. He is a miserable 3-6 on the year with a 6 ERA and he has not won a start since June 24th! His last 2 starts however looked pretty promising. He went into the 7th inning of each start, only surrendering 3 Earned Runs in both games, but got the loss in a 5-1 loss, and a no decision in a 4-3 loss. Seems like both starting pitchers today have had a lack of some run support in their recent starts. I look for that to continue today. The umpire is Jim Wolf, and Im ecstatic to see this guy. In 18 games umpired this year, 4 have gone over the total. That's right, only 4 games out of 18. That means the over hits only 22% of the time when he is back there calling balls and strikes. When Mr. Wolf is back there, his games average a lousy 6.39 runs per game. He calls a strike an amazing 64.3% of the time, and to no surprise his games average a whopping 15.3 strikeouts per game! It is clear that this guy is an Under bettor's dream umpire! As I dug deeper, I found out that Under is 3-0-1 in Wolfs last 4 games behind home plate vs. Colorado. Under is 6-1 in Wolfs last 7 Monday games behind home plate, and the Under is 19-7 in Wolfs last 26 games behind home plate. Now quickly here are some other things that I found out that help my under cause today. We are 10 minutes to game time so hopefully you can see this to help persuade your play. With the line movement on this one with the public on the over, I'm not going to bite. Give me the under for the afternoon game. As always, I wish you all the best of luck. Let's get this early play!
Under is 34-16-3 in Rockies last 53 games as an underdog of +110 to +150.
Under is 4-0 in Hammels last 4 starts on grass.
Under is 4-0 in Hammels last 4 starts overall.
Under is 5-1 in Hammels last 6 starts with 4 days of rest.
Under is 4-1 in Hammels last 5 starts with the total set at 9.0-10.5.
Under is 5-1-1 in the last 7 meetings in Philadelphia.
Colorado Rockies/Philadelphia Phillies Under 9 (-120)
