Verlander is 3-3 with a 3.07 ERA in seven career starts against Oakland. He also has had a few days extra rest due to the rainouts... he will be chomping at the bit. He is a fierce competitor, and I feel when he faces a dude that just threw a perfect game, he will be so charged up to out perform him, that he will have everything working...

Meanwhile, Braden has struggled against the Tigers in his career, as his career ERA against Detroit is 7.34 -- his second-highest figure against any team.

Hence, my logic!! I will never try to talk someone out of a play, these are just my views and since I am about a 50% sucess rate, your guess is as good as mine... I just see value with the "never say die" Tigers, against a poor hittting, low run scoring A's team...

Its kind of like the Phillies and Yankees of this year.... when you have success, EVERYONE gears up against you for the whole season... Braden has accomplished what other pitchers try to do their whole life. So now when he faces the best, he will get their best!!!
