Referring to the play as a possible 'lock' means that there's no way in hell it could possibly happen. Lottttttts of superstition at SBR!!

Honestly, I don't like calling a game as a lock. Never saw a game I could call a lock.

I like the over, but nothing can be called a lock. It's just moderately more likely outcome than the under IMO.

Which is why I said lock, easier to type than "moderatley more likely outcome."

I don't know about the over. Pettitte pitched great against Boston and only gave up 1 run. It really depends on how the Yankees bats come through against LA.

Look at Pettitte's stats vs the Angels for the past three seasons. No team has beaten him up worse in that span... I'm playing the Angels and the Over in this one.

The 2 starters combined for an ERA under 10 last year. They're both capable of tossing low scoring games.

wow a era under 10 huh....well that qualifies for probably every pitcher in this series and something tells me we gonna see a few overs still.....dont worry even if the starters are on the pens will help this go over

So what? These two teams also ranked #1 & #2 offensively last season, scoring an average of about 5.5 runs per game each.
ERA is not a good predictive stat as it reflects a lot of other factors outside of the pitcher's control. Attempting to add ERAs together to predict a game score just doesn't make sense... not to mention that it ignores the impact of relief pitchers...

Not sure Id use the word lock. Sure New Yankee stadium is a launching pad, but Pettitte and Ervin Santana are no scrubs.

Ervin Santana is pretty extreme fly-ball pitcher. He tends to have his worst outings at hitter friendly parks.

Great call! And lay a lot less juice than on sides. It would be interesting to study which teams rarely go a series without at least one over.

I like the over. If it loses, it is specifically because it was referred to as a "lock" in this thread.
