Archie, I think the offense is going to be better than some people think. Pitching is my concern - they suck. If Milledge and Clement live up to the hype, this could be a pretty solid unit me thinks. Been a Bucs fan for years and this is the best "potential" offensively I can remember in a while.

Bullpen is horrible, horrible, horrible...

I expect big things from Milledge this year, he's had his head on straight for a year now....

Clement i don't think much of.... Laroche could possibly have a decent year...but not enough power for a corner infielder.

Morton will have a good year as well....

team is filled with question marks except for McCutch.

hopefully today will be the 1st and only sell-out of the year.

at least rebuilding effort number 18 doesn't involve matt morris or derek bell.

Archie, easy does it pal. It's Opening Day; you'll blow a gasket before the All-Star break if you let this get to you.

Iwamura was in the Rays' starting lineup last April 7, and knowing what we know now, it's pretty plain to see that perhaps McCutchen should've been in Pittsburgh's lineup out of Spring Training. A little bit of pitching along the way and this year's Bucs could avoid the NL Central cellar thanks to the Astros' impotency.

I really do like their OF quite a bit from an offensive perspective. Defensively, we'll see. I think Garett Jones is an under-rated hitter. I thin Doumit & Milledge are the keys to the lineup. The top 3 should get on-base, but can they drive 'em in?

Willie, they waited on Cutch, to save his Arbitration 6 year (super 2) clock.... they are doing the same thing with Pedro Alvarez this year...

Eagles.... I really really hope Garrett Jones can duplicate his performance last year...guy has immense power... and a nice story.... and guy didn't even get a nod for any rookie of the year votings....
I'm not counting on it though

Golfer- Yeah they are gonna try the pitcher batting 8th...they started about a week ago in spring training.... they made this move simultaneous to moving McCutch (who has Power that will only continue to develop) and 60 SB speed to the 2 hole from leadoff..... so now you have 2 real hitters ahead of him to set the table and make him a #3 hitter the 2nd time through the lineup.... I don't fault it

1-4 the Bucs are solid this year and I'm expecting big seasons from McCutchen, Jones, and Doumit. As for Miledge, he is hit or miss but still think he could turn it around, he's still somewhat young. Clement is the one I'm excited about, this kid got a sweet swing and I'm hoping that he can stay in the lineup on a daily basis. LaRoche and Cedeno, well putting it nicely, they're not the best offensively but both are solid on the left-side of the infield and that's what their there for. Duke should have a go season, be his first one in years (since his rookie season) but think he finally figures it out and has a descent season.

Noticed I used words like hope and excited, I have felt this way the past 17 seasons as well and we all know how that has turned out for Bucco backers.

Pirates only trade their "stars" when they only have 1 and somtimes 2 years left on their contracts....


they've already cleaned house.....

this year the only "core" guys I could see traded are Doumit, Duke, Aki (he's not really core just a rental)
