MLB Opening Day receives blessing from Mother Nature
MLB Opening Day receives blessing from Mother Nature

Following a long, cold winter across the country, it's nice to see that the weather will apparently cooperate with Major League Baseball for Opening Day 2010.

The first Monday of the 2009 season saw two of the 13 games canceled due to weather. This year it looks as though all 13 Opening Day games will get played.
Pittsburgh and Oakland stand the best chances of seeing wet stuff that could threaten the contests between the Dodgers, Pirates and Mariners, A's. But those two games should get played.

Milwaukee also has some rain in the forecast for later today, but the afternoon game between the Rockies and Brewers should not be in too much danger, and Miller Park has a roof if it needs one.

Note: All times listed below are Eastern. Forecasts current as of 8 a.m. (ET) April 5.

    Phillies at Nationals (+170, 7½)

The weather here in the NE has been incredible. I guess b/c we had such a terrible winter. This should make for some good baseball to start the season.

Yep, pretty tedious and time-consuming. But I'll try and get this out at least a couple of times per week and throw in umpire listings when I have that info.

only weather that REALLY matters is the wind report from Wrigley when they play there, otherwise, nice to not see snow in any forecasts, early April can be real dicey.

Long cold winter? It was pretty mild up here in the northeast. Not that much snow and very short.

Glad to hear someone escaped a cold winter. By our standards, it was a miserable winter here. Hell, couldn't get my seedlings going until late February

that year was my first baseball season covering the mets @ flushings. We had just gotten Leny from the Rangers after he punched out frank lucchessi and randle had a career year. i interviewed him recently where Randle is very avail living in mexico the past year ..hit .304 and had a good year. He played alond side Frankie taveras who we got from Pirates that year. Flynn at second and guillermito montanez played first with a flare. Where did Joel end up?..coaching I think he was youngblood back then with handsome young lee in center a vail of mike and tom of grieve filled left.wit da bad dude from colorodo safety playing catechr was the best since grote and hodges
