OMG's 2010 MLB Season Long Grind

[On My Grind]

Figured I'd go ahead and create an account and keep track of my 2010 MLB plays through this thread.

Look for it to be quite a grind, hopefully grinding out a profit by the end of the season.

I'm not big on huge favorites, but will play anything I feel has value. I bet Sides and Totals and will keep an Overall Record, a Sides Record, and a Totals Record.

Bankroll Management is key to my grind. I have a 1% base unit and will bet up to 5% on a given play but not often as I approach this as a grind, rather than a get rich quick scheme. I rank my plays 1-5 according to my belief in the strength of the play, but I mainly like limiting exposure with 1*-2* plays unless I have knowledge or information that warrants differently. I am a volume better, and love investing in A LOT of plays each and every day. Bad days will happen and I will hate that I had 9 plays, but that's life. This is a grind.

Favorites are to win X* units and dogs are risking X* Units. I make all of my plays at Matchbook and hope to consistently beat closing lines. I'll post a play in this thread as soon as I lock it in at matchbook.

I'm strictly recreational, just trying to grind out some "free" money while I'm in college majoring in Finance

**Essentially I now have Houston +130 3* and will be graded as such (3 unit play at +130 disregarding the 2* play and the 1* play from earlier)

I got on Minnesota late but it's a play against the public as the line is continuing to fall, even with the 4 of every 5 bets going against the twins tonight. The RLM at this point in the seasons gives me reason to feel extremely confident in the twins tonight. Lincecum's velocity is reportedly down so I'll fade him tonight for 3* as well.

Today I hope to have my first winning day of the season... I'm prime fade material right now especially on my bigger plays... Something I'm doing is off, but I hope to correct that soon and get in the WIN column... We shall see. I may drop to a 1 unit flat bet for the weekend series if I struggle again today with my larger plays. I do have my first 4* play of the season today, with KC, so hopefully I can finally profit with a play greater than 1*. Anyways, today I have my first Team Total of the season as well as my first play on the Run Line. I more or less spot bet run lines and avoid home run line favorites for the most part. Giving up half an inning (bottom of the 9th) isn't worth the risk imo. Teams are just trying to win, and a closer can easily give up a run or two in a 2-3 run game with no chance of the home team countering in the bottom half. I enjoy betting team totals but I like to know teams a little better before betting large boards with them. I, like with RLs, like betting away team totals because I'm guaranteed 27 outs and can't be shorted from a teams at bat in the bottom half of the 9th.

This week has gone ridiculously bad... What comes to mind are that through the first week... the O's have screwed me twice in the ninth (4* and 3*), the braves twice(2* and 1* same game) in the 9th, and the royals once (4*) in the 9th. I've also lost or pushed on several over/unders through 9th inning heroics but I'm rather used to that, so that doesn't bother me as much. As fate has it, my big plays are the ones that are losing in the 9th I can handle bad beats, but it's bad for my confidence that my most solid plays are folding down the stretch Hopefully these late inning failures balance back out or work in my future soon... Mike Gonzalez sucks.

I expected a bounce back performance from saunders and for braden to struggle, which he did give up 2 early first inning runs and saunders was solid but the bullpens cost me. Late innings have killed me to this point in the season
