anyone think they could be remotely decent this year? i think they are close, and if the back end of the rotation turns out to be decent, the offense might make them worth paying attention to for most of the summer. Over 74.5 seems awfully intriguing. thoughts?

If they could find a way to play better on the road they might have a shot at the over. As it stands now though, I think they'll have a really hard time even finishing of Toronto.

Then I'm guessing you would love the 'over' 73 ½ at TheGreek. My sims said 74-75-76 was a good bet. Agree with you about the offense being a strength, but it's not just the back of the rotation I worry about. Plus, with no real trustworthy No. 1 to hang your hat on entering the season, you have the whole 'how long can Mike Gonzalez anchor the pen as the closer' question.

a stockpile of young arms ready to make their mark in the mlb, they need veteran direction. I think they got Millwood for this reason, as he will prolly be their no.1 starter throughout the season. Gonzalez has proven himself a good closer, as he was able to rip off 27 straight saves in pitt, but that was three years ago. their offense is lead with great talent in roberts leading off, and Markakis and Jones delivering in the heart. They could finish close to .500 this season, but as we've seen from them in the past few years, they tend to taper off by labor day. The O's have talent, but guidance and direction will determine how they finish this season. personally, i think they can reach the over for 73.5 wins.

He's definitely a key to them staying in the race this season.

interesting points, everyone. i dont think i can place a bet on the over. The O's are the kings of fading late, so its just not worth the investment for me

One of my favorite props I saw recently was Baltimore u75.5 wins.

Why not wager them at home, instead of being on the road, since they play better there. Not to mention, any winnings will be paid a lot quicker.

they need a little better pitching plus in the AL east it might take a while to win the division.

Their schedule is really tough to start the season (the sharp ESPN thread's article). Likely they'll get hammered right out of the gate. After that, with their correspondingly crappy record, there may be some significant value to be found on their games. I'll likely be betting them in June & July

They have to play the Yankees and Red Sox too many times to give them a chance at a serious win total. 74.5 does seem kind of low though, and with the Blue Jays the way they are...I might take the over.

i think they are going to be streaky. if things go well for them, maybe the young team can ride that momentum for a little bit

Orioles are being built for 2011, I see them landing right around that number, don't know if there is much value in 74.5.

they have good young talent but will take a few years before they make a dent in the AL East
