I remember one of my losing runline bets from last summer:
I bet Chi Cubs at home -1.5 for plus money. I can't remember who they were playing but I remember it was a day game.
Cubs leading 5-3 in the bottom of the ninth. First two outs are routine, no one on base, batter down to his last strike and he hits a routine ground ball to the SS, who mishandles the ball and his error allows the runner safely to first, no problem, I wasn't worried.
Next batter, first pitch, hits a high fly ball to shallow left field, routine out, game should be over, nope, left fielder looks up and you could see that he was lost, couldn't see the ball, I watched as the ball landed six feet behind him and with two outs runner scored from first base, score 5-4 Cubs. Next man up grounds out, game over!
Sickening!
I watched the sportscasts that day and of course that play was on all the "highlights".
Since that game, I've been wary of the -1.5 runline.
Does anyone else remember that game? or have a similar experience?
