    Tim Lincecum
Is this kid the real deal? I keep reading that his is the best prospect in a long time. He will start on Sunday against the Phillies, because the Gaints placed Russ Ortiz on the DL.

He is 4-0 with an ERA of 0.29, allowing 12 hits with 46 strikeouts in 31 innings for Triple-A Fresno.

It will be interesting to see how he performs.

It sure will. He better not make any mistakes, though, especially if the wind is blowing out, or the Philly big boppers will take him deep.

But those minor league stats are eye-popping, to say the least.

Anyone looking forward to seeing Tim Lincecum pitch on Sunday?

I'd love him to have a good outing. And to prove that paying silly money for the likes of Zito could be much better well spent - by replacing the Giant's Pensioners for one.

This is the kid that has a delivery similar to Hudson's, right?

It's not often you see a kid that can hit triple digits and people are more impressed by his curveball.

Needless to say, I grabbed him on all my fantasy teams. And looking forward to seeing him pitch tomorrow night.

So is the kid worth +114 to +120 at home against Hamels?

I hope he gets rocked. Lets not forget AA and Major League are 2 different animals. Choptalk over at the rx already wants to crown this kid the Cy Young. Let him prove himself over 4-5 starts and take it from there.

I don't think he is tonight looker. All this hype reminds me of Matt Garza's first start for the Twins last year. What makes matters even worse for him if the fact that he's going up against the Phillies ace tonight. Then you factor Bonds not in the lineup tonight and it doesn't look promising for the Kid IMO.

Not the best of starts, then.

Incidentally, that kid should sort his teeth out.

I hope so bigboydan, because I parlayed the under with Phillies ml. All the scoring I can yet afford to see is one more Philly run max, anything else and my parlay's shot down because the o/u was 8.

Phils got a gift with that interference call involving Victorino. Terrible call.

With respect, I don't think you need to be Nostradamus to predict that a 22 year old pitching for the first time in the majors isn't going to have the best match of his career.

You really don't Taco. I thought it was pretty clear cut in regards to what expect out of the kid tonight. Bochey made it quite clear the other day that he would not make more than 100 pitches in this game. You had to figure with him being a rookie that he was going to make rookie mistakes tonight.

Yep. 10 K's, only 2 hits, and 1 walk. Kid looks to be legit so far.

He has dropped his ERA to 3.44 and his WHIP to 1.15. 21 K's in 18.1 IP, not bad.

That was a great game (except for the Astros blowing the win ). Too bad Oswalt and Lincecum aren't in the same division so we could see the two battle more often during the seasons to come. Lot of similarities between Lincecum and Oswalt, though the kid certainly has a little more giddy-up on his heater than Roy O does. But both are 'small' by a lot of standards, and both have sort of 'balls to the wall, all out' deliveries with a nice repertoire of pitches.

Astros broadcaster Jim Deshaies also noted the other night that Lincecum bears a remarkable resemblance to actor Alan Ruck, Cameron in Ferris Bueller's Day Off
