#2I say NO
The owners should have made a pact not to sign him in the off season. That way he couldn't break Arron's record.Comment -

#7I couldn't give a rat's ass what either of these two do. Both should just crawl into a hole and wallow in their own messes as far as I'm concerned.Comment -

#9Yes, if I was commissioner, I'd be following a player who was about to break any hallowed record like homers, wins, saves, etc. If I was commissioner, I'd be at the ballpark each and every day. I would sit in the bleachers as much as I could and listen to the fans. I also would have never sat on my ass and let the steroids issue get as out of hand as it did. So there wouldn't be any issue right now about whether or not I was showing support for Big Head Barry and his steroids ways.
Selig, on the other hand, basically sh¡t in his messkit and created the fix he's in right now. I say Selig, meaning him in particular and the owners in general. He's a yellow-bellied, lily-livered, gutless, spineless jellyfish and should be at the games following Bonds since Selig and the owners are at least partly to blame for the mess. Suck it up, be a man and take your lumps, Bud.

Letting the 1994 season get cancelled
Interleague
All-Star game determing homefield
2002 All-Star game debacle
Allowing rich teams to get richer

And if there was ever any doubt that Selig was a nutless wonder, the photo of him at the 2002 All-Star Game, his arms spread wide and his shoulders shrugged in his infamous "I've got no clue how to solve this" pose should be enough for anyone. I agree, the game's an exhibition, and you don't want to risk injury. But when Torre and Brenly came to me and whined they were running out of pitchers and I'd have to call the game, any many with just average cojones and an IQ over 60 would've leaned in and made it clear to Torre and Brenly that there would be a winner in the game, even if it meant one of them would be asking a pitcher to groove a pitch or two to decide it.
Any man but Selig, I should say, because he's not a man, he's a jellyfish.Comment
