Good news for Phillies backers! Lee should now be relieved to have to pitch for a team that'll ALWAYS give him generous run support. The Phillies should have also acquired Dan Haren (who's wasting his talent in Arizona) and Jurrjens (who's wasting precious time in Atlanta).

So no Francisco in the lineup tonight then!? That should help the Angels get it done as he's been hitting pretty well.

AAA right-hander Carlos Carrasco, Class A righty Jason Knapp, Catcher Lou Marson & Shortstop Jason Donald will be sent to Cleveland.

Phillies also get outfielder Ben Francisco in the trade.

Yes Yisman also put it out in Bases forum! As Phils Phan IMO excellent move! As I stated in another thread Donald and Marson expendable. Rollins is here for quite awhile and Ruiz is good glove man and handles pitchers well. Carrasco I liked but better than giving up Drabek! The other pitcher is years away from the bigs!

Also Happ stays but don't see him anything more than a 4-5th starter down the road! Plus minors prospects Brown and Taylor stay! One will replace Ibanez in the future. Victorino and Werth have proved to be everyday big league hitters who are excellent in the field and on the bases!

Lee, 3.14 ERA is all I will say! Record will improve with this lineup behind him. Plus we get Ben F. which is an added plus! Halladay was better but the value of this deal for Phils IMO is better!

I don't agree at all. Cliff Lee's style of pitching in that launching pad in Philly? He's going to be "neutralized" like every other starter on that staff is. Halliday wouldn't have been.

Yeah, this was a great move for the phils considering they didnt have to give up drabek or happ. Right now the rotation looks like it will be: Hamels, Lee, Blanton, Happ, and Moyer. My question is what happens with Pedro now? Will they put him in the pen or go with a six man rotation? Also Myers is supposed to be coming back within 2 weeks and what will they do with him? They aughta take Lidge out and put myers in the closer role imo. Either way as a phils fan I am more than happy with this trade. Amaro is turning out to be a good GM.

Also, Jack Wilson and Ian Snell were traded to Seattle today.

The Pirates have dealt shortstop Jack Wilson and right-handed pitcher Ian Snell to the Seattle Mariners for five players.

I understand your point with Halladay being a sinker-low ball pitcher! But it's not like they weren't winning already. Phils just needed an quality arm to give them innings! Might take couple years time to see if any prospects they held onto are a hit or bust? But if we win the WS than it will be worth it by 11/09

The Phillies should be arrested after stealing from the Indians.
