Technically, we are not supposed to play unofficial plays, but people like to, it also helps keeps track of possible v3 bets. If you look at playing the official play only, historically it has done pretty well. The downside is that there aren't many plays throughout the season.

The champ sent out an email today saying that Baltimore was an unofficial bet.

Edit: It makes sense to treat this as an unofficial 4-game series. Their last meeting was scheduled to be a 4-game series and they only played the first 3, all of which the Red Sox won. So, technically, today is the 4th game of that series. If the Red Sox win, then it would become an unofficial bet for the remaining 3 games this series. If the Orioles win, then there would be no unofficial bet for the remaining 3 games, but a bet placed today would have won. So, no matter what, we're expecting the Orioles to win (on the run line) at least one of the next four games, so why not treat it as a 4-game series?

Last year I tried to keep track of postponed games, and I know that at least one series generated a loss at the end of the series. At the end of the day, this is more Champ's system than mine so I can't say he's wrong. I just feel that if we keep the system simple, it can be more successful.

I'll try to clarify... if the Red Sox win today, then they technically swept the last 4 game series, and the next 3 games would be an unofficial bet on the Orioles. If the Orioles win today, then there would be no unofficial play on the next 3 games, but obviously if you had taken the Orioles run line tonight, then you would have won that bet. So it's exactly the same as treating this as a 4-game unofficial series. Bet on the O's tonight; if they win, the series wins. If they lose, then that actual unofficial series would still take place on the next 3 games, so you would continue betting anyway.

All of this also has to take the O's horrendous road record into account, though.

I'm not saying any of this for your tracking purposes, just for the people who would bet on the unofficial series if the Orioles lost tonight. There's no sense in sitting there hoping the Orioles lose so that you can bet the next three games, just bet all 4 games as one series and it's exactly the same, except with a potential payout on the first game that you wouldn't get by waiting for tomorrow's game to start the betting series. The same logic applies to the subsequent v3.0 bet if the Orioles do win tonight... just treat the next three games as a 3-game v3 series and even if the Red Sox lose the first one, that makes it an official v3 play for the next two games anyway.
