How the lines are set/moves depends in a not insignificant measure upon the betting marketplace's perception of the relative strengths of the teams. Now, to the layman placing his recreational bet, his knowledge of the teams will be cursory and indeed often gleamed from highlight shows. So, since what they have seen of the teams all year long is how they roll the opposition and score elegant goals, they might just look upon both teams as "stacked", "offensively strong" etc. and miss what I felt was the larger point, namely that Man U had produced their moments against better competition and that having honed their toughness through the grueling marathon that is the PL season they would go into tonight's game with an advantage that might not occur to everyone.

                                                                                                                    So, it was a statement on perception, I was not talking about how the teams had appeared to me. For that reason, I find it hard to believe that the comment can testify to a lack of understanding for the game of soccer on my behalf.
