Seriously there people here that make post like this so dumb. Neil Welker has been great to a point no mets fan misses Murphy. Since when did April standing matter so much .... Mets are still the class of the division. Harvey is going thru his spring training in April cause they didn't handle it the right way in March that's why he is struggling. Degrom is going thru a dead arm period topping out at 93 and yet they are off to a solid start. Mets and Cubs still favorites in the NL. Like it or not

And $29.5 million saved that can be used on more important areas going forward.

The Mets rolled over the Reds this week, just as they rolled over the Braves in Atlanta this past weekend. They've won six straight and 11 of 13, and if you want to discount it because of the weak opposition, at least they've done exactly what they needed to do.
Walker has done more than that, and his first month as a Met should have erased any doubts about what baseball life would be like away from his hometown of Pittsburgh. His strong April has also eliminated any talk about whether the Mets should have done more to keep Daniel Murphy, Walker's predecessor, at second base.
