any thoughts on the total in the yankees game? line moved down half a run, but most the money is on the side of the over. My thought is even if the starters can keep the scoring down, I don't have much confidence in either bullpen right now. I think this total is baiting people to play under. I'd play the over.

Same situation with Boston today....15 mph wind blowing in, but all other factors point to over, so I'll pass again.

Thanks Over the years, I have tried to isolate less than obvious factors that I feel are the most important in handicapping a total. For example, way before computers and the internet, I charted umpires for years and factored their records into my handicapping. Now everyone has this info, so it's less important since, to some degree, it's baked into the posted total. Believe it or not I NEVER look at the starting pitcher's ERA, since I feel that's already baked into the total also. I do look at the relief pitchers' ERA and I try, though not always successful, to predict what reliever will be used. Weather, ballpark and right/left match ups are also factored in. I hope that answers some of your question. Good luck

Thanks Tank. As in baseball I try to look at the less obvious factors. For example, in football, when I look at the weather, it' not just if it's raining or snowing or windy, but if the wind is cross wind. In college hoops I look at the coach and his O/U record. I feel a college BB coach has a lot of control over the pace he wants his team to be at. In general I look for relatively simple things. I don't necessarily call it a system, but I look at the same things for each game, and most importantly, I find reasons not to play a game. This way it limits my plays. I hope that answers your question a bit.

Just out of curiosity, where did you get the info on 14 MPH winds? Local weather report shows the wind blowing NE. I know the stadium is positioned so home plate is on the SW corner of the stadium so wouldn't the wind help in getting more balls out of the park?

Thanks Joos. I use the link that inZane posted but I also check DonBest weather and they reported a 11.6 mph wind blowing in from center/right. When both confirm, I have to take them at their word. By the way, you asked a good question and one can never be too careful when it comes to money!!!

thanks dime, and appreciate you posting your plays here. sounds like maybe you have a bit more confidence in your ncaab plays than football. anyway, am thinking about switching the emphasis of my wagering scheme- had success with ML parlays (ncaaf) last year, but this years start makes me believe that it will be hard to recoup the early losses from this year. ok, best to you and good luck.
