Let's take the second hottest team in baseball, starting a pitcher who has absolutely owned the Pirates at PNC, and make them +135.

I haven't had a play on a Tiger game since going 0-3 to start the season.
Just trying to understand WTF the books are doing with them.

I didn't play this game. I don't rely on line movement at all anymore; if I did, I'd post and play everything at the last minute.

I've been a Tiger fan longer than you've been alive my friend.
Doesn't mean I have to bet on them. Business is business.

I didn't say you bet this game, you talk ALL THE TIME about these lines, like daily ( HOU/OAK recently and many more).

doesn't mean U have to bet with them, doesn't also mean U have to bet against them, which U do almost every time. And majority of the time, fading them is Ur biggest play. U faded them from first game of season all the way till maybe U realized it wasn't worth fading. As I say, if Ur a tigers fan, sure doesn't show.

What does being a fan have to do with betting on or against them?
I bet against them three times to start the season, and only twice on the ML. That's it. And that was because they were at inflated numbers in my book -- not because I wanted to see them lose.
You're talking about this like we're 12 and I just traded away Miguel Cabrera's baseball card or something.

Why wouldn't I? Oddsmakers are smarter than all of us combined.

I cap games, compare my numbers to the oddsmakers, and make a decision from there. I'm just not of the belief that I know a team/game that much better than the books, so I'll typically just pass if I feel like I have a better number. Others will try to expose the line -- hey, more power to them. I just find that very hard to do long-term when betting pro games.

exactly. Just pick who you think will win before looking at the line and then after looking at the line if you think its a fair price then place the bet.
no need to be a conspiracy theorist. Fact of the matter is MLB is not as heavily wagered as NFL and there are many more games so naturally the books arent always going to release the sharpest lines.

Dont the Oddsmakers just want enough money on each side they win either way? If they cant, they want more money on the side that puts the odds in their favor? Just about figuring out which side that is.
