The Cardinas have been to four straight NLCS series and won a title in the last four years.
They currently have the best record in MLB, great pitching, and some good young talent mixed with solid veterans.
They have like five guys that may start the All-Star game.
They are consistently good. They aren't a one year wonder.
Why do you think they are lucky? They play good ball and don't beat themselves.

The Cardinals track record over the last decade speaks for itself.
Odds are they have been really good as opposed to having a 10 year stretch of good luck.
Cards also blew a 3-1 lead to the Giants who eventually went on the win the World Series a few years ago. They could easily have another title.

Because every time some washed-up pitcher like John Lackey puts on a Cardinal uniform, it's like magic happens. Guys like Allen Craig, Matt Adams, David Frese, Kolten Wong, etc. -- these guys show up and play way over their heads because it's the "Cardinal Way" (whatever that means) before eventually fading back into oblivion.
I'm not saying the Cardinals are a bad team by any means. Quite the contrary, they are very good. But I watch a lot of their games and they catch an incredible number of breaks -- more so than any other team I see. This team, with this roster, is on pace to win 108 games? Come on.

In the last 15 years the Cardinals have been to 9 NLCS series and won two World Series. They're good man. As for "this roster", putting aside their record, which is the best in MLB, check out the numbers to back it up (MLB ranks).
Hitting
Average - 7th
Runs - 9th
Hits - 9th
Pitching
ERA - 1st
They might have five guys starting in the All-Star game. When your lineup doesn't have any holes and your pitching has the best ERA in all of baseball, you're going to win a lot of games.

So their pitching staff is the best in baseball top to bottom and their offense is in the top 1/3 of the league statistically. The end result is a lot of wins.
They also play sound baseball. They move runners, get guys home when they are at third base with less than two outs, and the pitchers don't walk the world to get in jams. They typically limit the damage on the mound and cash-in runs when they need to. Baseball isn't a difficult game if you play it right.
Also, Molina is a hall a famer that always does a great job handling the pitching staff.
Well aware of what they've accomplished (though that has very little to do with this year). And I'm not saying they're not solid. They are. I'm saying that playing .667 ball is a fluke. This is a 90-win type team, not 108.
Also, please don't use All-Star voting in an discussion with me about how good a team is ever again. A sore spot for me. Biggest joke in all of sports.

What's up, buddy. Could be doing better betting-wise, but can't complain at all about anything life-related. I'll gladly take that. Take care.

Tempted to take Colorado on a ringer.
Also tempted to add to SF with the huge price change.

wtf was mauer doing on that one-out ground ball? He could have had carpenter at 2b by 20 feet. Instead he gets the force at first, and of course, reynolds gets a two-out single.
that guy is completely and utterly useless now.
