Padres vs. Dodgers prediction

Xander Bogaerts Over 0.5 RBIs (+200 via Betway) ⭐⭐⭐

Xander Bogaerts has longer odds of driving in at least one run than Jurickson Profar (+175), Ha-Seong Kim (+185), and Jake Cronenworth (+175). With only seven runs batted, ranking seventh on the team, it is only a matter of time before Bogaerts starts contributing more RBIs.

Bogaerts has a 1.116 OPS in 23 career at-bats against Dodgers southpaw James Paxton, the third-highest OPS of any batter facing a pitcher today against whom they have had at least 10 career at-bats.

Five of Bogaerts’ seven career hits against Paxton have gone for extra bases (three of them home runs), and he enjoys a better-hitting split against left-handers. Bogaerts is batting .300 with a .964 OPS against southpaws this season compared to a .204 average and .499 OPS against righties. He has driven in a run in just two of 10 games in April, but those two have come within the last week, and his +200 odds are a great value to add to that streak.

Max Muncy Under 1.5 hits + runs + RBIs (-135 via Betway) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Dodgers slugger Max Muncy has exceeded this projected total in three consecutive games and all four against the Padres this season. But he went under in four of the first seven games in April and should again do so against a pitcher he has struggled against.

Muncy has a slash line of .222/.250/.259 in 27 career at-bats against Yu Darvish, and just one of his six hits have gone for extra bases. Muncy does not see the ball well against Darvish, as 12 of his 21 outs have come via strikeouts. And while Muncy frequently finds himself at the plate with opportunities to drive in runs in this powerful Dodgers lineup, two teammates that hit above him in the lineup (Mookie Betts and Will Smith) have also struggled against Darvish, with seven hits in 43 combined at-bats and 10 total strikeouts.

Shohei Ohtani to hit a home run and Dodgers to win (+260 via Betway) ⭐⭐⭐

Shohei Ohtani's eight-game hitting streak was snapped in yesterday’s win against San Diego, but he still drove in a run for the sixth time in the last nine games with a sixth-inning RBI. Ohtani needs one home run to break a tie with Hideki Matsui for the most career home runs (both have 175) by a Japanese-born player in the major leagues, and Sunday Night Baseball is the perfect stage for Ohtani to set that mark.

Ohtani has been on an absolute tear lately, following up an 8-for-33 start to the season with 16 hits in his last 37 at-bats, including 12 extra-base hits and four home runs. His 1.078 OPS ranks ninth among qualified hitters, and though he has just two career at-bats against Darvish (with one hit), Ohtani is an excellent bet to take his fellow countryman or someone in the Padres bullpen deep.

This wager can be found under Betway’s “Wincast Player To Hit a Home Run & Money Line” option and offers more value than Ohtani’s standalone +200 home run odds.
