The Vancouver Canucks and Nashville Predators kick off their first-round series in Vancouver on Sunday night, and we have our expert Predators vs. Canucks player props and predictions based on the best NHL odds

The Vancouver Canucks secured the Pacific Division title despite a late-season slump that saw them drop eight of their final 16 games. The return of star goaltender Thatcher Demko from a knee injury in their second-to-last game should provide a much-needed boost heading into the playoffs.

On the other hand, the Nashville Predators finished the regular season strong, boasting the NHL's best record since February 16 (20-5-3) despite losing six of their last 10 games. Andrew Brunette's squad is considered a strong candidate for a first-round upset, as highlighted by our Stanley Cup Playoff Upset Picks.

The series kicks off at Rogers Arena in Vancouver on Sunday at 10 p.m. ET (ESPN).

Accompanying our Stanley Cup betting guide, here are our Predators vs. Canucks player props and NHL picks for Game 1 (odds via our best NHL betting sites; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Predators vs. Canucks prop bet predictions for Sunday

Over 5.5 goals ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Two of the three regular-season contests featuring the Predators and Canucks hit the over, both of which saw seven goals. The exclusion had five goals in a 3-2 Vancouver victory. Eight of the Preds' final 11 games to end the season went over, while four of the last six Canucks' games mirrored that trend.

Nashville allowed 2.98 goals per away contest during the regular season, and Vancouver scored 3.51 at home. While space will assuredly be at a premium, especially in Game 1, the 5.5 goal threshold facilitates a higher probability of securing the over. All of our best sports betting sites offer -120 odds for over 5.5 goals, which implies a 54.55% probability. A winning $10 bet would yield an $8.33 profit.

Best odds: -120 via FanDuel

Quinn Hughes Over 2.5 shots ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Quinn Hughes is the Canucks' most influential player. The captain will understand the importance of setting the tone early, particularly on home ice. Hughes had at least three shots in two of three encounters against the Preds during the regular season, averaging 3.3 shots per game.

He didn't manage three shots in the season's final three games but hit the over in the previous seven. At +105, DraftKings offers the best value. FanDuel stands at -108, BetMGM and bet365 at +100, and Caesars at -108. A winning $10 bet at DraftKings would pay a profit of $10.50 and, via our odds converter, accompanies a 48.78% probability.

Quinn Hughes Over 0.5 assists ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Hughes is an even better bet to notch at least one helper. The Norris Trophy favorite enjoyed all sorts of success against the Predators in the regular season, scoring six assists in three games. He had 75 assists in 82 games and 42 in 41 home games. The all-star defenseman had 18 multi-assist games, the NHL's most among blueliners.

At -115, BetMGM and DraftKings offer the best value for this prop. bet365 comes in third at -120, while FanDuel (-128) and Caesars (-127) lag. A $10 winning wager at BetMGM and DraftKings yields an $8.70 profit with an implied probability of 53.49%.
