Miami opened as 2.5-point favorites, and the line has stayed there at DraftKings and FanDuel. However, the price for the Cardinals to cover is currently +100 at those sportsbooks, signalling that the line will likely move to three shortly. Ball State vs. Miami (OH) Picks

Ball State 1122

Ball State vs. Miami (OH) ATS Pick

Ball State +3 (-110) ★★

It generally feels like when a home team opens favored by 2.5 or less, the best option is to take the visitor. Without much of an angle for these two very evenly matched teams, it makes sense to stick with that logic.

It’s hard to tell how much of a difference home-field advantage will make in this one. The Redhawks are 2-2 at home this season, and the Cardinals are 2-3 on the road, with one of their losses coming at Tennessee.

What this game will come down to is which offense can manage to score against their stout defensive opponent. The Redhawks are allowing just 23 points per game this season and they have allowed fewer than 20 in three of their last five. But the Cardinals have scored 20 or more in three of their last five. If they can get into the 20s in this one, that should be enough to cover.

Ball State vs. Miami (OH) O/U Pick

Under 44 (-110) ★★★

The Cardinals have scored 20 or more points in three of their last five games, but they have not scored more than 30 since October 1. The Redhawks also have struggled a bit to score this season. While they have scored over 20 in their last three games, they scored just 10 at home against Western Michigan and 13 on the road at Bowling Green.

The Ball State defense is allowing 27.7 points per game, but they have allowed more than 30 just once in their last six games. With neither offense playing particularly well and both defenses more than capable of completely shutting down the other team, expect this one to be low scoring.

Ball State vs. Miami (OH) Prop Pick

Ball State to score 20-plus points (-135) ★★★

The Cardinals are averaging just 20.6 points per game in their last six contests. With the exception of last week’s loss to Ohio, they have been playing in nothing but close games. This game should be close as well.

The Redhawks have allowed more than 20 points in back-to-back weeks, after allowing a combined 32 in their three previous games. The Cardinals aren’t a great offensive team by any means, but they have scored more than 20 in their last two road games.

The Redhawks have been inconsistent and unpredictable both at home and on the road. With a bowl berth on the line, that inconsistency should be the advantage the Cardinals need to score at least three touchdowns.
