Fantasy Tennis League - Trial Version

Anyone interested in trying out a little "fantasy" type tennis league? I have been thinking about this for a little bit. What I want to do is test this out by using the last few tournaments as a tester for my ideas to see if it would work and then have it implemented on a full scale version to start the 2012 season.

It will include a draft. Obviously it's too quick to start for the Shanghai tournament, but the goal would be to have our draft late this week or on the weekend with next weel's tournaments as our start date.

Would be looking at a flat 10 point fee for entry. No limit on the # of entries that will be accepted, but it will be a one team per person limit. In other words, you can't have 20 teams of players, just one.

This will be involving ATP players [men] only.

Don't pay any fees yet until I see how much interest we have here. If you're interested, just give an indicator in this thread. Will post the format, etc. once we have a set # of participants. I am looking at a minimum of ten hopefully to have it be competitive.

Question for those interested .... if we do a "live" draft ... what day/times are best for you guys? Here's some suggestions. If a day is absolutely a no-go for you or a time, please let me know so I can try to get one picked out that suits everyone.

When the window opens, you should go to a screen where you can enter an alias & pick a password to sign into the room. Please choose the same screen name you use at SBR as your alias.

When you enter the room, please post a test message so that I know you have tried this out. Let me know if you encounter any problems with this. This is how I plan on doing the live draft if it works for everyone. Only thing you probably need to double check is that you have java enabled I think.

RULES & FORMAT

Entry Fee: 10 SBR points
Fee should be paid all at once if you are a PRO or two points per day until you finish if you are a NON-PRO.

Draft
A live draft will be held on Sunday, October 16th @ 6pm ET. The draft will be held LIVE via this Chat Room link: http://us3.chatzy.com/54801855636174

The draft will be in "snake" formation in that the draft will go for example from 1-10 and then back down from 10-1 and then continue to snake around for the remainder of the draft.

Each person drafting will have three minutes to make their selection.

Team Roster
Each team will consist of an eight man roster consisting of players from the ATP tour.

Weekly Lineup
Each week, you will start four players and name each of your bench players as an injury alternate for a specific starter in case they withdraw from a tournament.

*Injury alternates will only be used if a player withdraws BEFORE playing their first match at a tournament*

Free Agent Pickups
In the event that you want to pick up a player and drop another, you may do so. A Waiver Wire order will be established based on the draft order. So if two people want the same player, the team higher on the waiver wire will be awarded that player.

To acquire a free agent, you must PM EaglesPhan36 with the player you wish to acquire and the one you wish to drop.

The deadline to pick up new players each week will be 10pm ET on Sunday Nights.

Scoring
Each starter or injury alternate will accumulate points as follows:

Match Won: 10 points
Match Lost: -5 points
Quarterfinal Appearance: 5 points
Semifinal Appearance: 10 points
Finals Appearance: 20 points
Title Won: 50 points

Bonus points will be awarded for:

Semifinal Appearance UNSEEDED: 15 points
Finals Appearance UNSEEDED: 30 points
Title Won UNSEEDED: 60 points

Season Length
Season will begin with tournaments played on October 17th and ends with BNP Paribas Masters on November 7th.

Standings
Standings will be posted upon completion of the week's tournaments. Prizes will be awarded based on the number of participants and will be posted once the draft is complete.

EP, I have a friend who would like to play , he is not a member on SBR but since we have 11 , it would work out to get a 12th person. Perhaps he can join and since you get 6 points when you log in each day pay the entry fee that way?

Can he join SBR? Since the prize is points, it'd be weird to have him playing with no prize if he does well.
