Scheepers/Niculescu thoughts???

I like Niculescu in this spot, she's been playing great as of late and although i'm not a big fan of her game she seems to find ways to win...Scheepers is always dangerous and has been on fire, but the h2h was scheepers in a tough one on clay so do others have any thoughts on this one??

I feel suddenly stupid though for betting 275 on this one when I've been shying away from Fish all night at -250. Might have been safer with the fish.

matty, i actually feel stronger here on niculescu than playing fish....gulbis is no push over and considering that fish hadn't played since the US open and struggled mightily against harrison he could very well lose that match. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if gulbis takes that one imo but fish 'should' win it. Nonetheless, i got 220 ridin on niculescu here and hopefully we hit this one...if she plays like she has been, our chances are very good. LET'S GO

Still, not a good sign that Niculescu is unable to serve with a 82% first serve percentage...scheepers's inability to hold serve is more justifiable with her 47% first serve percentage. Niculescu needs to start holding her serve, seriously

agree we need a break here then a hold to win set to force Scheeps to serve first in the 2nd set... usually you want your player to open up set serving but in this break fest, it would be nice to get a quick break than hold to lower any hope Scheeps might have left.

Agreed iceminers, and glad she fought away the breakpoints and won the set on her serve....we've seen too many times that players will flat out choke trying to serve out the set and then end up in a tiebreak to lose the set and collapse. My thinking exactly and she's threatening on Scheepers's first serve once again here in the 2nd and hopefully she gets it.

The reason why I was so worried was bc scheepers has had an awful first serve percentage and would justify her inability to hold serve but you would think that would get better to a higher average into the second set....on the flip side, niculescu was struggling dearly with her serve with a great first percentage which often will go down in average in the 2nd set. Let's hope this isn't the case tho

Yes, she's shaky many times on her serve....she's been incredibly lucky with some crazy 3 set wins the last few weeks...eventually she won't get as lucky. No doubt she's a dangerous player but still quite overrated imo. Tough tho for u if scheepers does indeed lose, u'll bounce back tho

And man isn't that the truth....be very very wary of Russians in tennis, especially since that whole Davydenko debacle in 2007 smh MATCH-FIXING is very very real and it seems that Russian players are heavily involved....on a side note, I thought Serena threw the US OPEN championship against stosur.
