Campbell's Hall of Fame ATP Contest
With Wimbledon winding down, time to turn to the next tournament and another contest to try and keep the tennis sub-forum rolling along.

Official profiles of the 64 tennis tournaments in 31 countries that comprise the ATP Tour. Featuring tournament information, live scores, results, draws, schedules, and more on the official site of men's professional tennis.

It's grass court tournament most people forget about. Interesting to watch if you've ever seen it on TV because all the courts are laid out next to each other so there can be a couple matches going on simultaneously. Anywho, will be doing a contest for this. Kicks off on July 4th!

Once the draw is out, will post here and am working on a format for this contest. Entry fee will be 10 points.

It's usually a weak field. Look at the tournament winners the last couple of years.

It's usually a tournament for paycheck cashing. A guy like Isner comes here maybe to score a cheap tourney win. Younger guys look for points and experience. Most everyone else revs up for hard courts.

Can't really expect much out of a tourney straight after a Slam but it's definitely a good one to make some money on. Bookies get a bit lazy again with the odds.

I'm in as always but you may need to remind me as usual

No problemo. Agree on money making opportunity here. The top "seeds" here often include guys who aren't good on grass or are here just to check in and check out. If you can find futures on this one, you can probably make a good score if you take a few moderate to long shots.

I love the court at Newport, I have a good friends there but all I have access to this summer is a miserably hot DC tournament. This is a great tourney for people going. You have great sailing , you are near the water, like the clay tourney at Charleston. I love these American tourneys in the second half of the year, I can actually look at matches in the morning. This time zone stuff is killing me.

I just wish these tourneys in the US had more live video, livescorehunter is usually sparse on live streams of some of these tourneys. Should be alot of fun.

Haha I love this tournament, this grass is pretty quick too and plays like real traditional grass. Should be a fun one I hope a first time tourney winner can take this - I just saw Ivo Karlovic got in here so he should do some damage

Tennistv have newport this year, so coverage should be a bit better.

Newport courts are really low bounce, quite a bit different from the other grass events now. Small guys like, slicers like, clay mugs don't.

Field has been hurt a bit by Fish and Querrey withdrawing.

Isner top ranked, may struggle for motivation, but he needs the points now, dropped down almost 50 in the rankings - he should probably be looking at winning the title.

Karlovic also in there, ranked wayyyyy down at 150ish, badly, badly needs points.

Otherwise could be some guy like Sela or Rochus cashing in, their flat ball stays extremely low and can be hard for most opponents who never see such a thing.

Mahut might fancy a shot if he's fit.

Old guy who know how to play on grass perhaps? Karol Beck looked pretty decent in Wimbledon too, and knows how to play on grass, but he's injured most weeks of the year so anyone's guess what he's like physically. Clement somewhat similar, may fancy a last hurrah.

Or a youngster. Dimitrov wasn't bad at Wimbledon, and Harrison's attacking game too.

Quite an interesting tournament, without any big names you can have some really fun matches as lots of people see the chance to pick up big points - say a final at 150 points, that's sod all to top guys, but gigantic to someone ranked down around 100ish.

Excellent post. Very good info. I havent even looked at the field, I cant believe these top american players are not playing here, this court has alot of history. Fish looks to have some davis cup obligations, but its great to see young players like Dmitrov and Sweeting playing. Hopefully Isner will grab a title.

                            RULES
                            1. Entry fee is 10 SBR points. Entry fee is due when you submit your entry. If you only have two points per day to send, you MUST submit two points with your entry and then pay two points per day until your fee is completely paid. Any player who does not pay his/her fee before the completion of the Newport tournament will be disqualified from the contest and all points will be kept to use toward the prize pool.

                            2. Entries are due via PM to EaglesPhan36 by Monday, July 4th @ 10:00am ET. Any entry received after this deadline will not be entered into the contest.

                            3. Prize pool will be based on the number of entries and will be announced on Monday after all entries are posted.

                            FORMAT
All players entering the contest should submit this information via PM to EaglesPhan36 as their contest entry:

                            Tournament Winner:

                            Semifinalists:

Number of Germans to Make the Semifinals: OVER/UNDER 1.5

Number of Seeded Players to Lose Their 1st Match: OVER/UNDER 2.5
**BONUS: PICK THE EXACT NUMBER OF SEEDED PLAYERS TO LOSE THEIR FIRST MATCH*

Pick ONE player as your ACCUMULATOR:

                            SCORING
*Correctly picking the tournament winner is worth 150 points. Picking an unseeded player who wins the tournament is worth 250 points.

*Each correctly picked semifinalist is worth 50 points. If you pick all four semifinalists correctly, you earn a 100 point bonus.

*The OVER/UNDER questions earn you 25 points for a correct answer. You lose 25 for an incorrect answer. The bonus for picking the exact number of seeds to lose is 75 points.

*Your ACCUMULATOR pick nets you points for each match they play as follows:

1 point = Each game won
5 points = Each set won
20 points = Each match won
5 points = Each match won in straight sets
                            -10 = Match lost

For any match in which your ACCUMULATOR is the listed underdog, you entire point accumulation for that match will be multiplied by their dog price. If they are a favorite, you simply earn the points as laid out above. All prices will be the OPENING PRICE listed at tennisinsight.com for each match. As these points can rack up the longer your player lasts, you will want to pick a player you think will go deep into the tournament - but may also want to find one who will be listed as an underdog more as the tournament progresses ... your choice!

[Example: Your player is +125. They earn you 42 points. You net 52.5 points or 42 X 1.25]

                            TIE BREAKERS
                            1. Correctly predicting the tournament winner.
                            2. Higher number of semifinalists correctly picked.
                            3. Accumulator points.

Thanks Eagles for putting this on. I thought alot about Dimitrov but I just don't trust him against experience yet. Someone out of the blue could win this but I am going to at least see some good matches in some great weather.

Forecast looks for temperatures in the low 80s and maybe the occasional thunderstorm during the week, no rain delays!

I'll get the entries posted up tonight. BBQ time here in a bit, so the hot dawwwwwgs and beer are gonna be entering my mouth soon. Think we had six entries, so prize payout probably will be 50 for 1st and 10 for 2nd.
