    Make It Rain In Spain
Just call me Mr.French for Tuesday.

    Chardy -150 (Acasuso)
Chardy usually isn't exactly great on dirt, but he gained some confidence last week in Rome with a few wins before falling to the eventual champ, Tomas Berdych in 3. Acasuso normally would be a solid play on clay, but he's 3-7 in his last 10 and has lost 4 of 5 matches since withdrawing from a tournament back in March with a back problem. Could still be problematic for him. Chardy's serve is the key. If it's on, he should handle Acasuso.

    Benneteau +150 (Karlovic)
Benneteau has little-to-no form, but he does know how to beat the big man, having won their last 2 encounters - including one on the Croat's preferred hard surface. Karlovic is his usual self. If his serve is on, it's up to his opponent to control his own service game and hope he cracks in the tie break. But if Ivo cracks at all in his serve, he's meat. Benneteau despite his form is a good price here I think.

No. Mathieu is a no touch player for me most of the time. He's about as reliable as using swiss cheese for a condom.

Chardy wins in straights: 6-3, 6-2. One down!

I must be insane. I'm going French again ... WTA doiiike style!

        Mauresmo +100 (Zheng)
Mauresmo opened as the favorite, but everyone is on Zheng now. I think most of this is due to Zheng taking Safina to a 3rd set tie breaker last week. But looking closer, I don't know how Zheng made it there other than Safina gifting it to her. Mauresmo is still a viable option on clay as she showed in beating Hantuchova & Cibulkova on dirt at the Fed Cup earlier this year. She whipped Sugiyama in Round 1 in Madrid and now faces the disappearing serve of Zheng. Zheng won almost 90% of the points off her first serve, but a dismal 22% on 2nd serve. Guessing when one of these ladies is going to serve like a turd is like flipping a coin, somehow my coins are turning up French. Must be the coke I snorted with Gasquet.

Price was too big on that one for my tastes. Damn it. I missed the cut off to make the Mauresmo bet! Ah well. Still think it's a good one.

Benneteau lost in 3. Had a shot in the 2nd set tie break, but blew it and then got broke late in the 3rd. Damn French bastard.

Tsonga on clay is tough to predict. He hasn't had enough match play to really figure out what he'll do. I'd probably fade him against any decent competition on clay if he carries a hefty price. Ljubicic suprisingly is a decent dirt baller.

Glad someone got a win off Mauresmo. Still pissed I missed that one. Got engaged in conversation this morning and my book had the start time way off to begin with. Ah well. 2-1 for the Frenchies.
