Marlins/Phillies:
It's gonna be a somewhat hot and muggy evening in Philly, with a chance of a thunderstorm. This will be a showcase between two young fastball/curveball pitchers who are expected to be the future of baseball in that department.
Jose Fernandez has done his part, holding a 2.52 ERA through the midway mark of the season. Apart from his 2016 debut, he has not given up more than 3 runs this season in altitudes of 60 feet or lower, but holds an above 6 ERA in stadiums higher than 60 feet elevation. This is a pure reflection of the certain conditions needed for his curveball (which he uses over 30% of the time) to be effective. Citizens Bank Park sits at a 9 feet altitude, which is going to be perfect for his curveball execution. Don't expect anything to change with him..especially coming off 10 days rest.
Aaron Nola has seen a very rocky road as of late, but 16 days off should help anyone get back on track. He was starting to fall off rhythm with his breaking ball, but things should go a lot smoother in his return tonight. He has also already had the advantage of facing this Miami team, so expect him to have a decent outing today.
With two generally preserved bullpens, I expect game one to be a slow one here in a pitcher's ballpark. Both pitchers have done well overall to keep the ball in the park, therefore I expect the longballs to be minimal too.
UNDER 7 -110 to win 3 units
