    betfair lying
I want to let you know about the deliberate doing Betfair.

First Yesterday I was playing on betfair. I played the game of backgammon

I wanted to witdrawal but I could not because the money (they) without my knowledge passed on to australian license.

I wrote to them and they said that I requested transfer, which is not true.

They requested a certified copy of the document. I submitted all copies of certified documents.

Because of them I went to the municipality of certified documents and pay the administrative fee.

    I get their answer:

    Dear Ervin

    Your documents are certified incorrectly.

If so, you will need to provide us with copies of your official documents each one CERTIFIED by a community leader, i.e. teacher, councillor, medical practitioner, dentist, pharmacist, etc.

Each document must be signed individually by this certifier, who must put their name, signature and rank/title. They must certify that the document that they have seen is the original.

Please send a certified photocopy or scan of one document from each of the categories listed below:

    Personal Identification:
    • Passport
    • Driving License
    • National Identification Card
    • Citizenship Certificate

    Address Verification:
    • Recent- Utility Bill
    • Tax Bill
    • Recent- Bank Statement

    Source of payment verification:
    • Credit or DC registered on Betfair account (please blank out all digits except for the last four of the account and card numbers, leaving the start and expiry date visible. )

    • Recent- Credit or DC account Statement of a Betfair registered card
    • Recent- Bank Statement – must have Betfair transaction visible on it

Please remember to inform us of your Username. Keep your password private!

    PLEASE NOTE:

    • The documents must be full, clear and legible. NB: please DO NOT include your password in any correspondence.
    • For your personal security and integrity of your bank cards, please blank out all digits of your card number EXCEPT the last 4 digits. Please, do not blank out the start date and expiry date and your name on the card.
    • Send documents that state your residential address. Regrettably, documents addressed to a P.O. Box number are unacceptable for validation.
    • Please send scans in JPEG, PDF or GIF file formats only with a maximum size of 10MB per pag

I am very disappointed and sad!

Hi mohammad - This is standard practice for most books.

Basically you just need to photocopy your documents and take the copies and the originals to a pharmacist, your family Doctor, a police station etc. Usually that professional will have a stamp of some sort that leaves them room to write their name, the date, their job title and maybe a phone number. The professional looks at your original document and then stamps the photocopy to say it is a true likeness and they've physically seen the original in person.

The copies are the documents you send to Betfair. So take a copy of your Passport/Drivers licence + something that proves where you live (maybe a lighting bill) + a copy of your DC statement or whatever source you used to fund your account. Bring those into a professional, have them stamp and sign them and then send them off to Betfair. You'll be paid.

If that's the case, give them a call to find out precisely where the problem lies.

Why would an exchange require documents signed by community leaders?

If the player resides in Australia it is a legislative requirement that documents be certified by one of a number of "appropriately qualified" citizens.

Could be but I had to do the same thing with bet365 and William Hill at one point. (I wasn't living in Australia when I opened the William Hill account.) They may have changed their practices since then though.

I don't know what is normal in other countries but I've certified documents for hundreds of people and I've never asked for what reason they need them. Frequently of course they volunteer the information. It isn't for me to judge them.

If he worked at a sportsbook, he wouldn't be certifying docs. As Santo said, he's either one of the approved professions or is a notary public. Heck I got a bank manager to certify one of mine last time.

this must be a cultural difference then between australia and at least a part of the world.
in my country it's definitely not normal to go to a doctor, teacher, lawyer, whatever and have them sign papers on behalf of you, especially when they don't know you (well). really, no police officer for example will sign off on this. you can go to a notary to get official documents certified (quite expensive and not easy), for example to open a bank account, but a betting company application? no way.
most of us probably have a family member, friend, whatever who fits one of the categories and if you're lucky, he/she is willing to sign, but if you only can get someone you know personally, what's still the point of the whole verification by a respected person anyway. it's more like verification by a friend, which i'm sure wasn't the purpose.

i understand these are currently the rules in australia, but nobody seems to have really thought them through. in practice all they do is create more annoying hassle, and more possible reasons for gaming companies to not have to pay.

They are primarily about anti-money laundering, ensuring all account holders are correctly identified. Its not a huge hassle as a once off to open an account.

Even where your friend certifies documents because they are in an accepted position (doctor, accountant etc) that means they are a professional and also are under quite serious legal obligations in relation to exercising their powers so it still serves its purpose.
