    Unibet confiscates €600 from player

A Unibet (SBR rating B-) player claims that his account has been closed and a balance of €600 confiscated. The player states that he provided all documents requested of him and believed his account to be cleared for payments. The player states that Unibet has refused to share with him what violation he has made to warrant the removal of his balance. On November 20th, SBR reported that Unibet disabled two unrelated player accounts without providing a reason for doing so. SBR asks Unibet players with feedback are asked to write to help@sportsbookreview.com.

boy am i getting tired of all this confiscations!! I used to bet there but after reading the Unibet threads I really don't want to keep large amounts with this kind of aggressive bookies...they just deserve aggressive customers. What's with the B rating??

Well, there are only a few bookies that I feel safe keeping large amounts of money and this list is getting shorter and shorter.

If they are refusing to let him know what he's done wrong it is most probably because they have had reason to suspect him of money laundering or something like that which has resulted in them having to report him to the authorities. Where that is the case they are forbidden by law to say anything.

missing the point I'm afraid mate
            balance is irrelevant
it's what he may have been doing to trigger the alert
who knows how much might have already been played through the account or would be if he were allowed to continue playing?

the point is that almost nobody is 'money laundering' at Pinnacle or other big names, instead they choose 'vigilant' Unibet or Acbet, BAH and many others crap bookies.

Wow, it looks like a lot of bookies are short of money at Christmas time. Unibet keeps confiscating money, AC closing accounts with funds without explanation, Bodog simply stealing money from customers debit cards. Crazy!

unibet has always been solid recreational bookmaker.

let SBR investigate, and they can probably get some hint for what might have happened.

Pretty well known fact if you bet a stale line at unibet they'll honor it and then not allow you to do the same again after a time or to (yes, in some cases have to request appeal but these guys have been highly reasonable with that). Very large bookmaker one of the most popular in several markets I seriously doubt they just jacked some dude's €600.00 for the hell of it. If they did, the good news is LGA at least processes complaints now somewhat timely and has certainly become more player friendly the past year. So if the reason why is someone how a mystery (which I doubt to the player it is) at least he'll know soon why his balance was frozen.

There is ALWAYS a reason why a book does this, whether right or wrong.
You just may not be aware what it is.
And in many circumstances they are not permitted by law to tell you.

Can you name an example, where a law restricts to tell the reason?

In many countries there are provisions which banks and other institutions including bookies are required to watch out for suspicious transactions in relation to illegal activity including money laundering, terrorist funding etc.

Upon discovering such transactions they are required to report them to the authorities and are forbidden to convey any information in regard to the report to the account holder.

I know such provisions are law in the UK and Australia but I think also in most Euro countries as well. Not sure about the US.

Google 'suspicious transaction reporting' for more information.

Some posters will defend these books no matter what. Here is an example where a player had his account closed and money confiscated with no reason given. We have people in here stating that they think the book did nothing wrong. How stupid can people get?

Yes indeed people can get rather stupid.

Seems many just can't understand that books in regulated jurisdictions have to abide by the laws of the land and their regulatory requirements.

Books, like players, can make mistakes. But I'd wager that more often than not the books in question are right more often than the players who complain about them.

not defending the bookie because there are no facts to analize , unibet by there latest history are a very correct bookie, they would not burn there image by a 600euros
